摘要: The invention provides a vacuum cleaner having a dirty air inlet, a clean air outlet and dirt and dust separating apparatus lying in an air flow path therebetween, wherein the air flow path has a substantially uniform cross-sectional area between the dirty air inlet and the separating apparatus and between the separating apparatus and the clean air outlet. The uniformity of the cross-sectional area reduces frictional losses and reduces pressure drops within the cleaner. Some portions of the air flow path are preferably removable from the cleaner to allow access for maintenance and removal of blockages.

摘要: A cleaning appliance includes separating apparatus for separating dirt from a dirt-bearing fluid flow, a floor engaging rolling assembly housing a motor driven fan unit for drawing the fluid flow through the separating apparatus, a chassis connected to the rolling assembly, and a duct for conveying the fluid flow to the separating apparatus. To improve the stability of the appliance, the duct has an inlet section which is connected to the chassis for pivoting movement relative to the chassis as the appliance is maneuvered over a floor surface. An outlet section for coupling the inlet section to the separating apparatus is releasably connected to the rolling assembly to facilitate the removal of any blockages within the duct.

摘要: An upright surface treating appliance includes a main body having a user operable handle, a surface treating head connected to a yoke moveable relative to the main body, a stand moveable relative to both the main body and the yoke between a supporting position for supporting the main body in an upright position, and a retracted position, and a stand retaining mechanism for releasably retaining the stand in the supporting position and from which the stand is releasable upon application of a force to one of the main body and the stand. The yoke is moveable relative to the main body in response to an impact on the surface treating head to apply said force to the stand. This allows the force of the impact on the surface treating head to be transferred through the stand to the stand retaining mechanism, which, depending on the magnitude of the impact, can release both the stand and the yoke for movement relative to the main body. This avoids the need to provide separate releasing mechanisms for both the yoke and the stand.
