摘要: Various embodiments are described relating to sharing scanning operations among nodes in a wireless network, such as a WiMedia ultra-wideband (UWB) network. In an example embodiment, a message may be sent from a sending node to one or more receiving nodes requesting the receiving nodes to reduce transmissions on a wireless medium. The sending node and the receiving nodes may be included in a distributed wireless network. In an example embodiment, the wireless medium may be scanned at the sending node to determine whether the one or more receiving nodes are participating in the distributed wireless network by periodically transmitting beacons during a repeated interval, wherein the scanning may be performed periodically, aperiodically, or continuously.

摘要: A control strategy and/or method by which (1) a network device may reduce energy consumption though the use of lower-rate mode(s) without affecting spectrum opportunities for other network devices, which may as a result increase energy efficiency in a networked device; and (2) a network device may reduce unnecessary use of higher-rate mode(s) to allow other devices to access the common medium, which may increase usage fairness amongst devices and overall network robustness.

摘要: Various embodiments are described relating to resource management techniques for wireless networks. For example, a resource deficiency may be determined for a requesting wireless node in a wireless network. A resource request may be sent from the requesting node to one or more other wireless nodes, and a resource reply including a resource status may be received from one or more of the other wireless nodes in response to the resource request. One of the other nodes from which to obtain a resource may be selected based on the resource status for the selected node, and a resource update message may be sent from the requesting wireless node to the selected wireless node to facilitate a reallocation of resources from the selected node to the requesting node, the resource update message indicating an amount of resources to be reallocated from the selected node to the requesting node.

摘要: A device participates in a wireless communications network having a coordinator device that is responsible for allocating resources in the wireless communications network. Further, the device establishes a peer-to-peer connection with a remote device in the wireless communications network. This peer-to-peer connection is based on a reservation of resources from the coordinator device, wherein the reservation has one or more timing parameters. Upon detecting a disappearance of the coordinator device from the wireless communications network, communications with the remote device continues according to the one or more timing parameters of the peer-to-peer connection.

摘要: A first device receives a request from a remote device to relinquish at least a portion of an existing reservation in a wireless communications network (e.g., a WiMedia network). The existing reservation is between the first device and a second device. Also, the existing reservation was initiated by the second device and includes a first allocation of resources of the wireless communications network. The first device forwards the request from the first device to the second device, and sends to the second device information indicating a current view of resource utilization in the wireless communications network. This view is from a perspective of the first device. Also, first device may receive a request from the second device for a second allocation of resources of the wireless communications network between the first device and the second device. Such a request may be based on the resource utilization information provided by the first device. Further, the first device may also send, to the second device, an acceptance of the request for the second allocation of resources. Based on this acceptance, the first and second device may communicate according to the second allocation of resources.

摘要: The present invention provides techniques for responding to overlapping conditions in wireless communications networks include receiving data transmissions from a transmitting device across a wireless communications network. These data transmissions correspond to a connection with the transmitting device and occur within a reserved portion of a communications resource. An interference condition is detected that includes an allocation of the communications resource for a neighboring device that overlaps with the reserved portion. Based on this detection, the method sends a notification to the transmitting device, the notification indicating the presence of overlapping transmissions in the reserved portion of the communications resource.

摘要: An apparatus (STA) receives from a first node (AP1) at least one channel access related parameter and a first congestion indication; and receives from a second node (AP2) a second congestion indication. The apparatus determines a combined congestion indication which is based at least on the first congestion indication and the second congestion indication; and determines a first channel access parameter for a channel between the apparatus and the first node based at least partly on the at least one channel access related parameter and the combined congestion indication. In specific embodiments, the channel access related parameters may be an initial EDCA parameter and a degradation factor.
