    摘要: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for configuring and controlling guest access sharing. In the context of a method, a method is provided that includes causing a network scan to be initiated and receiving the results of said network scan, the results comprising information regarding an access point and determining, based on the received results, whether the access point comprises two or more network interfaces. The method further includes causing a guest access sharing configuration procedure to be initiated if the access point comprises two or more network interfaces. The guest access sharing configuration procedure includes causing guest access information to be uploaded to a server. Another method is provided that includes receiving and storing guest access information, receiving a request to obtain the guest access information and causing the guest access information to be provided to a device if the device has permission to access it.

    摘要: In one embodiment, in absence of transmitting from an apparatus a reservation request frame, the apparatus receives a reservation response frame on an assigned channel. The reservation response frame indicates a duration of a frame transmission. In response to receiving the reservation response frame, the apparatus transmits a frame on the assigned channel during the frame transmission. In another embodiment, in response to receiving a reservation request frame on a first channel at an apparatus, the apparatus transmits a reservation response frame on the first channel and on at least one second channel. The reservation request frame indicates a duration of a frame transmission. The reservation response frame indicates the duration of the frame transmission. After transmitting the reservation response frame, this apparatus receives during the frame transmission a first frame on the primary channel and a second frame on the at least one secondary channel.

    摘要: In one aspect thereof the invention provides a method that includes transmitting from a first (beaconing) mesh point at least one multicast or broadcast frame; and transitioning the first mesh point to a lower power mode of operation state after expiration of a specified post groupcast time from a last multicast or broadcast frame that was transmitted by the beaconing mesh point after expiration of an awake window, or when the awake window expires, whichever occurs later. In another aspect thereof the invention provides a method that includes operating a peer mesh point in an awake state; and maintaining the peer mesh point in the awake state for no more than a specified post groupcast time after a last target beacon transmission time, or a last received beacon frame, or a receipt of multicast or broadcast frame having an indication that another multicast or broadcast frame will be transmitted. A computer-readable medium storing program instructions to implement the methods is also disclosed, as are corresponding apparatus.

    摘要: Method, apparatus, and computer program product embodiments are disclosed to improve power conservation and efficiency in wireless mesh networks, by limiting the number of sources of group addressed frames that a peer mesh station receives. In an example embodiment of the invention, a portal wireless peer mesh device transmits a Portal Announcement frame in a wireless mesh network to create unidirectional paths from wireless mesh devices within the network to the portal. The Portal Announcement frame is relayed from one wireless peer mesh device to another to flood the network. Each wireless peer mesh device that receives the Portal Announcement frame receives the network address of the portal and the network address of the wireless peer mesh device that transmitted the frame to the receiving transmitting device. The receiving device may have received a plurality of Portal Announcement frames from a plurality of transmitting devices. A first, receiving wireless mesh device selects a second, transmitting wireless mesh device of the plurality of transmitting wireless mesh devices to be the sole transmitting source from which the first receiving wireless mesh device will receive group addressed messages. The first wireless mesh device transmits a group delivery notify message to the second wireless peer mesh device informing of the second device of its selection as the sole transmitting source of group addressed messages for the first device. Thereafter, the first wireless mesh device receives only from the second wireless peer mesh device, group addressed messages.
