Abstract: The invention relates to methods and arrangements for creating a safe working space in the upper part of an elevator shaft. A position of an elevator car in the elevator shaft in relation to a plurality of safety levels in the elevator shaft may be monitored, where each safety level is associated with a separate clearance of the elevator car from a ceiling of the elevator shaft. The elevator may be controlled to create a safety space zone at the upper part of the elevator shaft. The controlling may include progressively activating separate braking systems in response to the elevator car progressively moving upwards through separate triggering limits of separate clearances, to progressively strengthen an arresting of upwards movement of the elevator car through the elevator shaft.

Abstract: An elevator safety system includes an elevator control unit configured to: monitor an elevator shaft, receive a position, a movement direction, and a speed of at least one elevator car arranged into the elevator shaft, and determine dynamically at least one authorized shaft section based on the monitoring, and on the position, the movement direction, and the speed of at least one elevator car, and to provide an authorization to the at least one elevator car to move, such as by a linear motor, in or into the authorized shaft section of the elevator shaft. The elevator safety system further includes at least one elevator car controller configured to: provide the position, the movement direction, and the speed of the at least one elevator car to the elevator control unit, and receive the authorization. The elevator control unit and the elevator car controller are arranged to be in communication with each other.

Abstract: A sensor connecting unit includes a safety input for connecting with a sensor; a power supply that is controllable through a controllable power switch; and a first I/O processing unit and a second I/O processing unit being connected to each other through a reciprocal comparison communication channel. The first I/O processing unit and the second I/O processing unit are both connected through a measurement circuit to measure voltage, current or power between a reference input and the safety input, and connected to a safety bus. The first I/O processing unit informs the second I/O processing unit about switching off of the controllable power supply, the second I/O processing unit commands the first I/O processing unit to switch off the controllable power supply, and/or the second I/O processing unit measures an output of the controllable power switch to detect switching of the power switch.

Abstract: The arrangement comprises a drive driving an electric motor, a contactor and a control circuit connecting a control coil of the contactor to a power supply. The control circuit comprises a manual control part provided with a manually operated first switch, and an electronical control part provided with an electronically operated second switch and a processor controlling the second switch. The first switch and the second switch are connected in series in the control circuit with the power supply and the control coil of the contactor so that de-energization of the control coil of the contactor may be done either by the first switch or by the second switch.

The monitoring circuit is configured to form a signal indicating the danger of electric shock in the motor drive of the elevator, if the aforementioned earth fault is diagnosed.
