A method of controlling a portable device according to one embodiment of the present specification may be able to selectively activate the functions of a multifunctional control button. The method of controlling the portable device may include the steps of sensing a first control input for a control button configured to perform a fingerprint recognition function and a control input detection function, recognizing a fingerprint of the first control input by activating the fingerprint recognition function, if the fingerprint recognition function is activated, deactivating the control input detection function, and if the activated fingerprint recognition function is terminated, activating the control input detection function.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a portable device having a flexible display unit and a control method for the same. The device provides a dimming mode for dimming the display unit when lack of user input for a preset dimming time is sensed. The dimming mode includes a first dimming mode having a first dimming time and a second dimming mode having a second dimming time. The display unit has a first state before the display unit is expanded, and a second state after the display unit is expanded. A processor of the device converts the device from the first dimming mode to the second dimming mode when the display unit is retracted from the second state to the first state, reverts the device into the first dimming mode when preset user input is sensed, and performs dimming of the display unit when lack of the preset user input is sensed.

A mobile device and a method for controlling the same are disclosed. The mobile device includes a camera unit configured to sense an image, a display unit configured to display the image, a sensor unit configured to detect an input signal and transmit the detected input signal to a processor, and the processor configured to control the display unit, the camera unit and the sensor unit. The processor is further configured to provide an image capturing interface, wherein the image capturing interface displays the image sensed by the camera unit and an image capturing trigger for storing the image, and adjust focus of the image to an area corresponding to a location of a pattern code automatically and simultaneously display a pattern code trigger in the image capturing interface, only when the pattern code is recognized from the image.

A method for editing the playback speed of a partial sequence of video and a digital device therefor are disclosed. A video editing method includes providing a timeline interface corresponding to a video sequence, receiving a first user input for specifying a first location on the timeline interface and a second user input for specifying a second location on the timeline interface, setting an editing interval between the first location and the second location of the timeline interface, receiving a third user input with respect to the editing interval, adjusting at least one of the thickness and length of the editing interval in response to the third user input, and editing playback attributes of the partial sequence based on the adjusted thickness and length of the editing interval.

The method for processing a digital image includes sensing a first hand-drawn sketch and storing the sensed first hand-drawn sketch as a first digital image; visualizing the stored loaded first digital image as a first virtual hand-drawn sketch; sensing a second hand-drawn sketch being additionally drawn on the visualized first virtual hand-drawn sketch; and storing the sensed second hand-drawn sketch as a second digital image, wherein the first hand-drawn sketch and the second hand-drawn sketch corresponds to a physical sketch being expressed with a liquid or solid substance hand-drawn by a user.

A touch input gesture made on a touch sensitive display is described for providing a quick and efficient method for initiating the opening of a text input box. The initiation of opening the text input box following the touch input gesture may be made during the running of a separate application. Further, certain characteristics related to the shape, size and length of the touch input gesture will be referenced to determine certain characteristics of the text input box that is initiated in response to the touch input gesture.
