Abstract: A method of processing data in a digital receiving apparatus, the method including receiving a broadcast signal including low level signaling data, wherein the low level signaling data is carried via a specific data pipe (DP), wherein the low level signaling data includes service category information, the service category information is used to identify an AV service, an audio only service or an ESG (electronic service guide) service, wherein the low level signaling data is used to provide bootstrap information that allows the receiving apparatus to discover at least one service layer signaling information, wherein the bootstrap information includes URL data for a first service layer signaling information when the first service layer signaling information is transmitted via a broadband network, and wherein the bootstrap information includes a destination user datagram protocol (UDP) port number and a destination internet protocol (IP) address for a second service layer signaling information when the second service layer signaling information is transmitted via a broadcast network; and parsing the low level signaling data included in the broadcast signal, wherein the low level signaling data is parsed, and then the first service layer signaling information or the second service layer signaling information is processed.

Abstract: A digital receiver for processing a broadcast signal includes a receiving module configured to receive the broadcast signal. Further, the broadcast signal includes service components of a broadcast service, service layer signaling (SLS) information for the broadcast service and a service list table for providing bootstrap information, and the service components include at least one of audio or video data. Further, the bootstrap information is different based on a type of delivery protocol of the SLS information, and the type of delivery protocol corresponds to either a Real-time Object delivery over Unidirectional Transport (ROUTE) protocol or a Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) Media Transport Protocol (MMTP). The digital receiver also includes a processor configured to process the service list table, the SLS information and the service components of the broadcast service.

Abstract: A method for providing a broadcast service by a primary device (PD) includes performing a discovery process with a companion device (CD) application executed in a CD, wherein the discovery process includes receiving a device description request from the CD application, transmitting a first response message, receiving, from the CD application, an application information request destined for a first URL and transmitting a second response message, wherein a header of the first response message includes the first URL, and the second response message includes a second URL used as a Websocket endpoint of the PD; establishing a Websocket connection between a Websocket server and the CD application using the second URL; receiving a request message for media timeline information from the CD through the Websocket connection; and delivering a notification message to the CD through the Websocket connection.
