    摘要: An active protection system comprising an ultrawideband radar for threat detection, an optical tracker for precision threat position measurement, and a high powered laser for threat kill or mitigation. The uwb radar may use a sparse array antenna and may also utilize Doppler radar information. The high powered laser may be of the optically pumped solid state type and in one embodiment may share optics with the optical tracker. In one embodiment, the UWB radar is used to focus the high power laser. Alternative interceptor type kill mechanisms are disclosed. In a further embodiment, the kill mechanism may be directed to the source of the threat.

    摘要: A system and method for shaping the energy spectrum of a pulse train used by a pulse transmission system. The initial temporal and non-temporal characteristics of pulses comprising the pulse train are established using a designed code or a pseudorandom code and the spectral properties of the pulse train are determined. At least one characteristic of at least one pulse of the plurality of pulses that make up the pulse train are modified or at least one pulse is added or deleted to the pulse train and the spectral properties of the modified pulse train are determined. Whether or not the modification to the pulse train improved the energy spectrum relative to acceptance criteria is determined. The pulse train having the most desirable energy spectrum is selected. The optimization process can also iterate and may employ a variety of search algorithms.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a stepping motor with a magnet pole pattern having a predetermined pattern around the circumference of the stepping motor. In one embodiment, the pattern relates to a code having a unique single maximum autocorrelation peak over the period of the code. Example codes include Barker codes, PN codes, Kasami codes, Golomb ruler codes, and other codes. In one embodiment, the rotor and stator have a matching pole pattern. In one embodiment, the drive is arranged to align the poles in an inline configuration, alternatively, the drive may be arranged to align the poles in a diagonal configuration. In a further embodiment, one or more sets of poles are provided on the stator, each set being offset rotationally by a partial pole spacing. In one embodiment, the rotor is initially synchronized with the stator by capturing the rotor using a single unambiguous lock-in position based on the code autocorrelation.

    摘要: A system and method for highly selective intrusion detection using a sparse array of ultra wideband (UWB) radars. Two or more UWB radars are arranged in a sparse array around an area to be protected. Each UWB radar transmits ultra wideband pulses that illuminate the area to be protected. Signal return data is processed to determine, among other things, whether an alarm condition has been triggered. High resolution radar images are formed that give an accurate picture of the area to be protected. This image is used to detect motion in a highly selective manner and to track moving objects within the protected area. Motion can be distinguished based on criteria appropriate to the environment in which the intrusion detection system operates.
