摘要: In the DVR or Blu-ray application format a clip consists of a clip information file, through which it can be accessed from playlists, and an audio-visual data stream file. The data stream consists of data units, which in turn consist of multiple source packets. When such stream shall be split between source packets into two substreams, and the splitting position is within such a data unit, the employed file system may not allow splitting single data units. According to the invention, the smallest possible data unit that includes the intended splitting position is declared as a separate file, having separate clip information and data stream files. The first and second substreams are accessible via one or more RealPlaylists and/or VirtualPlaylists. The first substream comprises data from the first and second clips, and the second substream comprises data from the second and third clips.

摘要: A method for picture coding and also in a corresponding method for the decoding of a picture. In the case of the first picture coding method, a digital picture is divided into at least two sections, which are then combined with one another before being coded. In this case, a combined pixel is generated in each case from the corresponding pixels in the sections to be combined, in such a way that the combined pixel is allocated an unambiguous type (A, B, C, D) which corresponds to the distribution of the pixel values in the pixel N-tuple of the corresponding pixels. The method for pixel coding can also be designed in such a way that two successive pictures of a picture sequence are, in the same way, combined with one another before being coded. A method for constructing a sub-picture data unit for an electronic apparatus, in particular an apparatus appertaining to consumer electronics such as e.g. a DVD apparatus, being intended, where such sub-picture data units are used. Accordingly, the invention furthermore relates to an electronic apparatus as well.

摘要: A method for replacing parts of a digitally coded picture (11) is proposed. The digitally coded picture (11) may correspond to a sub-picture which is displayed on the screen of a television set (10). In the method, each line of the picture (11) is run length-coded. The replaceable parts of a line of the picture are run length-coded separately. The part which replaces the replaceable, original part of a line of the picture (11) is run length-coded in such a way that it has the same number of data units (data bytes) as the original part of this line of the picture (11). The replacement of the data for the run length coding words is carried out in a memory device (51). The replacement is possible in a simple manner by virtue of the fact that the original part of a line of the picture and the new part of the line of the picture have the same number of data units. Moreover, a device for carrying out the method is also proposed.

摘要: Available storage media capacity for personal video recording increases continuously. metadata can be used to organize the recordings, search for content and access specific recordings. If metadata are embedded within the multimedia content itself, like DVB specific Service Information, which are multiplexed with the audio and video streams to form a MPEG-2 transport stream, a search based on this metadata would require an inefficient and time consuming search through all multimedia content stored. According to the invention metadata information is gathered, analyzed and processed to form metadata entities, which are amended by a reference to the content itself. A descriptor stream is formed from the resulting pairs of metadata entities and references to the content and is stored separately from the files comprising multimedia content. In this way, for data of an MPEG-2 transport stream the metadata can be accessed without a need to reparse the entire stream.

摘要: Consumer electronic devices, such as e.g. high-definition movie players for removable storage media such as optical discs, may provide possibilities for advanced interactivity for the user, implemented as software applications. A question arising generally with such software applications is what the life cycle of such an application is, and who may control it. The invention provides a method for executing software applications within a playback device for audio-video data, wherein data from a first removable storage medium are read for a software application to be executed within said playback device, and the data comprise an indication defining a termination condition for the application. Based on said termination code and depending on how the medium holding the application is ejected, the application is terminated or may survive.

摘要: A method for determining optical distortions of a video recording unit is provided. The method includes positioning and orienting a light source such 5 that it directs a light plane to hit a non-flat scenery generating a bright shape thereon. The method also includes modulating, with a first frequency, the orientation of the light source, such that the bright shape periodically sweeps over the scenery in a sweeping direction non-parallel to a direction of main extension of the bright 10 shape. Further, the method includes modulating, with a second frequency different from the first frequency, the position of the light source relative to the video recording unit in the sweeping direction, and recording, with the video recording unit and while the orientation and the position of the light source are being modulated, sequences of images capturing at least parts of the bright 15 shape.
