摘要： An image capturing apparatus illuminates an object and captures an image of the object using the reflected light from the object. The image capturing apparatus includes an image sensor for capturing an image of the object by receiving reflected light, distance-measuring light-emitting devices for irradiating the object with spot light, and a control circuit for driving the distance-measuring light-emitting devices, detecting the spot light positions of the distance-measuring light-emitting devices from an image captured by the image sensor, and obtaining the distance to the object. The image sensor provided for capturing an image of the object can be used as a photodetector device for distance measurement. With this, it becomes unnecessary to separately provide a photodetector device for distance measurement, which enables miniaturization of the image capturing apparatus, as well as cost reduction.

One end of the reinforcing member is attached to the side wall opposite the other side wall to which the drive unit is attached and the other end is attached to the drive unit. The driven unit is an image forming unit including at least an image carrier. The image carrier includes a rotary shaft, both lateral ends of which are supported by the pair of side walls. A gear portion engaging the drive transmission gears of the drive unit is disposed on one end of the rotary shaft of the image carrier.

A storing unit stores a plurality of signal-waveform information corresponding to a plurality of character patterns. A selecting unit makes an operator select a correct-reading character from among a plurality of the characters, if there is an occurrence of a wrong reading. A comparing unit compares a pattern corresponding to the correct-reading character selected and a pattern acquired from a plurality of signal-waveform information while changing the parameters one by one. Based on a comparison result, a parameter-setting unit sets in the reading unit, the parameters for which the occurrence of the wrong reading is least.
