A dielectric layer is formed upon the device with a matrix of openings therein in line with the first array. The openings expose the surface of the first conductor lines. Semiconductor diodes are formed in the matrix of openings in contact with the first conductor lines. A second plurality of conductor lines are formed on the surface of the dielectric layer in a second array of conductor lines orthogonal to the first plurality of conductor lines in the first array. A second plurality of conductor lines is aligned with the matrix and is in contact with the upper ends of the semiconductor diodes.

Disclosed is a byte-erasable EEPROM memory cell which utilizes a five volt external source and a voltage multiplier circuit to program and erase a floating gate by means of electron tunneling. To prevent collapse of the voltage multiplier circuit a lightly doped drain region is incorporated preventing gate modulated junction breakdown, thereby preventing collapse of the voltage multiplier circuit. In addition, current flow through the channel separating a source region and the lightly doped drain region is controlled by a portion of a control gate and the floating gate, thereby allowing a higher erased cell threshold voltage. Also disclosed is a process for forming the lightly doped drain region by using the control gate as an effective sidewall spacer.

The information of a selected time reference frame and a calculated time stamp value of the frame based on a real-time clock of the optical line terminal (OLT) is sent from the OLT to the optical network unit (ONU) via the optical distribution network (ODN). When the time reference frame is sent to the ONU from the OLT via the ODN, the ONU records the arrival time of the frame based on a time reference made by the real-time clock of the ONU. The time difference between the arrival time and the time stamp value is calculated whereupon the OLT is informed of the calculated time difference. The OLT adjusts the real-time clock of the OLT in accordance with the time difference.

The embodiments disclose a method for scanning in a radio communication system, in particular in a WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network), including transmitting by a MS on all channels a probe message containing the IP address of the original AP of the MS and an MAC address of the MS; switching to the original channel; transmitting a response inquiry message to the original AP; and receiving a probe response message within a predetermined period, wherein, if the AP of the probe message received on the channel is not the original AP, then the AP transmits the probe response message containing the MAC address to the original AP according to the IP address; and the original AP buffers the probe response message received, and transmits the probe response message to the MS according to the MAC address after the response inquiry message sent by the MS has been received. The embodiments further disclose a scanning system in a WLAN. By using the method and system, not only the time delay during the scanning is reduced, but also the network security is improved and the difficulty for realization is decreased.

Methods and arrangements for time distribution in an optical network system in the upstream direction. The information of a selected time reference frame and a calculated time stamp value of the frame based on a real-time clock of the optical line terminal (OLT) is sent from the OLT to the optical network unit (ONU) via the optical distribution network (ODN). When the time reference frame is sent to the ONU from the OLT via the ODN, the ONU records the arrival time of the frame based on a time reference made by the real-time clock of the ONU. The time difference between the arrival time and the time stamp value is calculated whereupon the OLT is informed of the calculated time difference. The OLT adjusts the real-time clock of the OLT in accordance with the time difference.
