摘要: A system uses pulsed lasers to enhance a signal propagation path in a telecommunications network. The system can estimate a signal propagation path, which varies based on a current location of a mobile device relative to a base station. The system can detect a propagation loss due to a condition of a propagation medium including the signal propagation path and determine whether the mobile device is in Line-of-Sight (LOS) of a laser emitter. In response to detection of the propagation loss, the laser emitter can emit a pulsed laser that can enhance signal propagation by mitigating the propagation loss on the signal propagation path. The pulsed laser has a propagation path overlapping the signal propagation path when the mobile device is in LOS of the laser emitter, which is mounted on the base station.

An optical switch may be optically connected to the laser source to receive the laser beam and to selectively transmit the laser beam to a circulator that is optically connected to a device under test (DUT). A first coupler may be optically connected to a first photodiode and to the circulator. A second coupler may be optically connected to the first coupler, the optical switch, and a second photodiode.

摘要: Disclosed are apparatuses and testing methods for emulating an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) device for communicating or otherwise working with an Optical Line Terminal (OLT) device that was configured to operate with the ONT device. Such emulation may include configuring various settings of the apparatus so that the apparatus may appear to the OLT to be the ONT device. For example, the emulation may include accessing and using authentication/authorization related settings and network configuration settings of the ONT, thus permitting the apparatus to connect to a Passive Optical Network and test services and the quality of service experience without having to reconfigure the OLT.

摘要: Systems and methods include detecting a fast fiber transient on a span based on analyzing power data, wherein the power data is for any of optical wavelengths of traffic channels, optical service channel (OSC) wavelengths, and telemetry from a network element; and responsive to detecting the fast fiber transient, causing an optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) trace on the span with a specific configuration based on the fast fiber transient.

摘要: The disclosed systems and methods for characterizing an optical fiber in a dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) optical link. The characterizing comprising: i) applying a power dither to data bearing optical signals propagating in the optical fiber, the power dither having a high-power level and a low-power level; ii) computing optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) traces corresponding to the high-power level and the low-power level of the power dither; iii) averaging the OTDR traces corresponding to the high-power level and the OTDR traces corresponding to the low-power level into average OTDR traces; computing a differential Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) gain from the OTDR traces; and iv) adjusting the average OTDR traces based on the differential SRS gain.
