Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for cell measurement scheduling mode selection. According to certain aspects, a method for wireless communications by a user equipment (UE), generally includes selecting a first scheduling mode for performing cell measurements while the UE is in an idle state, in response to detecting at least one first triggering condition based on a comparison of a serving cell measurement to one or more neighbor cell measurements and performing cell measurements in accordance with the first scheduling mode, wherein the UE performs cell measurement more frequently when the first scheduling mode is selected than when a second scheduling mode is selected.

Abstract: In an aspect, the present disclosure includes a method, apparatus, and computer readable medium for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE) for measuring one or more synchronization signal block (SSB) beams from a network entity; selecting a highest rated SSB beam from the one or more SSB beams based on one or more selection factors; transmitting, to the network entity, a beam report including an identification of the highest rated SSB beam; initiating a timer in response to transmitting the beam report; determining whether a media access control (MAC) control element (CE) is received from the network entity before expiration of the timer; and performing beam switching from a current SSB beam to the highest rated SSB beam based on a determination that the MAC CE is not received from the network entity before expiration of the timer.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for adapting search, measurement, and loop tracking periodicities in new radio communications. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes determining, based on one or more parameters, a first periodicity to perform a search to detect one or more component carriers (CCs), cells, beams, or a combination thereof; a second periodicity to perform measurement of one or more cells, beams, or both in one more detected CCs; and a third periodicity to perform loop tracking to monitor a downlink serving quality, an uplink serving beam quality, or both of a cell. The method may further includes performing the search at the determined first periodicity, measurement at the determined second periodicity, and loop tracking at the determined third periodicity.

Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and computer-readable media for facilitating multi-tasking and smart location selection during connected-mode discontinuous reception (CDRX) mode are disclosed herein. Example techniques disclosed herein enable a UE to perform multiple tasks during a same SSBS to reduce the number of wake-up SSBSs. For example, disclosed techniques enable a UE to perform RLM tasks and loop tracking tasks during a first SSBS and thereby reduce the number of wake-up SSBSs. In some examples, the UE may also perform the search task or the measurement task during the same first SSBS and, thereby, further reduce the number of wake-up SSBSs. Example techniques disclosed herein may also enable the UE to select which SSBS occurrences to wake-up for during the OFF duration of the CDRX cycle.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide a plurality of discovery reference signal (DRS) search modes implemented by the user equipment (UE) during contention-based communication in an unlicensed spectrum. The plurality of DRS search modes may include a first DRS search mode (“Full search mode”), second DRS search mode (“Comb search mode”), and a third DRS search mode (“Thin search mode”). The DRS search modes may be selected by the UE based on the system requirements (e.g., tradeoffs between robustness and complexity against cycle cost). Features of the present disclosure further provide techniques for dynamically switching between the plurality of DRS search modes in order to minimize power consumption while reducing the number of cycles required to locate the DRS.
