Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses for wireless communication that can be used to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of data transmissions by increasing the degree of randomness with which data is scrambled for transmission over a wireless medium. In some implementations, a transmitting device may determine a scrambler seed value that includes at least 11 bits, where at least one of the 7 least significant bits (LSBs) of the scrambler seed value has a non-zero value. The transmitting device may generate a scrambling sequence based on the scrambler seed value and a polynomial, may construct a physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) that includes a multi-user (MU) request-to-send (RTS) frame and the scrambler seed value, may scramble one or more portions of the PPDU based on the scrambling sequence; and may transmit the PPDU over a wireless medium.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for increasing the transmit power of wireless communication devices operating on power spectral density (PSD)-limited wireless channels. Some implementations more specifically relate to LTF designs that support distributed transmissions. In some aspects, a transmitting device may obtain a sequence of values representing an LTF of a PPDU and may map the sequence of values to a number (N) of noncontiguous subcarrier indices of a plurality of subcarrier indices spanning a wireless channel according to a distributed tone plan. In some implementations, the transmitting device may modulate the sequence of values on N tones, representing a logical RU, and map the N tones to the N noncontiguous subcarrier indices, respectively. In some other implementations, the sequence of values may be obtained based on relative locations of the N noncontiguous subcarrier indices in the wireless channel.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems that support communicating using orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) according to a tone plan that supports 20 MHz subchannel puncturing within a wireless channel. In some aspects, a non-legacy tone plan may define a set of tones for a resource unit (RU) such that the RU does not overlap a 20 MHz subchannel boundary of the wireless channel. The locations of the set of tones in the non-legacy tone plan may be shifted relative to corresponding tones associated with a corresponding RU according to a legacy tone plan. One or more of the disclosed tone plans may enable puncturing of subchannels while making use of some RUs that would otherwise partially overlap a punctured subchannel in the legacy tone plan.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for increasing the transmit power of wireless communication devices operating on power spectral density (PSD)-limited wireless channels. Some implementations more specifically relate to pilot tone designs that support distributed transmission. A transmitting device may modulate a physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) on a number (M) of tones representing a logical RU associated with the legacy tone plan and may further map the M tones to M noncontiguous subcarrier indices associated with a wireless channel. The transmitting device may transmit the PPDU, over the wireless channel, with a number (N) of pilot tones each having a respective location relative to the M tones as mapped to the M noncontiguous subcarrier indices. In some implementations, the relative locations of the N pilot tones may be different than relative locations of a number (K) of pilot tones associated with the logical RU.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for generating a secure long training field (LTF). In some implementations, the secure LTF may include a randomized bit sequence that is difficult, if not impossible, to replicate by any device other than the transmitting device and the intended receiving device. For example, the transmitting device may use a block cipher or stream cipher to generate a pseudorandom bit sequence and may select a subset of bits of the pseudorandom bit sequence to be mapped to a sequence of modulation symbols representing an LTF symbol of the secure LTF. More specifically, each of the modulation symbols is mapped to a respective one of a number of subcarriers spanning a bandwidth of the secure LTF. The transmitting device may further transmit a physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) that includes the secure LTF to the receiving device.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for wireless communication, and particularly, methods, devices and systems for including signaling regarding enhanced features of new wireless communication protocols. The signaling may be included in various portions of a physical layer preamble of a wireless transmission. In some implementations, the physical layer preamble may be used to indicate puncturing of subbands or content channels that may carry further signaling in accordance with preamble signaling designs of this disclosure. The physical layer preamble signaling be parallelized for different subchannels of a wireless channel that consists of multiple subchannels. Some implementations of the physical layer preambles may be used to multiplex different types of wireless local area network communications into different subsets of the plurality of subchannels of the wireless channel.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses for wireless communication that can be used for channel puncturing. A wireless station (STA) may receive an indication of a first puncturing pattern to be used for transmitting or receiving data over a wireless channel, where the first puncturing pattern is defined by a first wireless communication protocol release and the STA is configured to operate according to a second wireless communication protocol release. The STA may select, from a set of puncturing patterns defined by the second wireless communication protocol release, a second puncturing pattern that includes one or more non-punctured subchannels that are subsets of one or more corresponding non-punctured subchannels of the first puncturing pattern. The STA may use the second puncturing pattern to transmit or receive one or more packets over the wireless channel.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for acknowledgement and retransmission, and more specifically, to methods, devices and systems that enable a secondary wireless channel to provide acknowledgements of data transmitted on a primary wireless channel concurrently with the reception of additional data on the primary wireless channel. In some implementations, a transmitting device may transmit wireless packets including multiple codewords to a receiving device via a first wireless channel. The receiving device may attempt to decode the received codewords based on primary information in the codewords. The receiving device may then transmit to the transmitting device, via a second wireless channel, a codeword acknowledgement that identifies codewords that the receiving device did not successfully decode. The transmitting device may then transmit parity information to the receiving device via the first wireless channel that aids the receiving device in decoding the identified codewords.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for increasing the transmit power of wireless communication devices operating on power spectral density (PSD)-limited wireless channels. Some implementations more specifically relate to tone mapping techniques and physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) designs that support duplicate (or “DUP mode”) transmissions with channel puncturing. In some implementations, a wireless communication device may transmit a PPDU carrying user data over a wireless channel excluding one or more punctured subchannels, where the user data is transmitted in a DUP mode. As such, the user data may be mapped to a number (N) of tones spanning a first portion of the wireless channel and a duplicate copy of the user data may be mapped to N tones spanning a second portion of the wireless channel.
