    Abstract: A method of processing video data includes determining, by processing circuitry, a plurality of neighboring samples for predicting a current block. The plurality of neighboring samples are arranged outside of a region of a current picture, the region comprising the current block, a row of samples adjacent to a top row of the current block, and a column of samples adjacent to a left column of the current block. The method further comprises deriving, by the processing circuitry, local illumination compensation information for the current block using the plurality of neighboring samples and generating, by the processing circuitry, a prediction block using the local illumination compensation information.

    Abstract: A device for video decoding can be configured to obtain, from a syntax structure in a bitstream comprising an encoded representation of the video data, a syntax element indicating whether 6-parameter affine prediction is enabled for blocks corresponding to the syntax structure, wherein the blocks corresponding to the syntax structure comprise a first block; based on the syntax element indicating that the 6-parameter affine prediction is enabled for the blocks corresponding to the syntax structure, use the 6-parameter affine prediction to generate a predictive block for the first block; and use the predictive block and residual data to reconstruct the first block.

    Abstract: A method of decoding video data includes determining, by a video decoder, a neighboring block in a current frame is inter coded. The method includes, in response to determining the neighboring block is inter coded, determining, by the video decoder, a template for a current block in the current frame based on a partial reconstruction of the neighboring block. The method includes determining, by the video decoder, a reference block in a reference frame corresponding to the template for the current block and determining, by the video decoder, motion vector information for the current frame based on the reference block and the template. The method includes generating, by the video decoder, a predictive block for the current block of video data based on the motion vector information and decoding, by the video decoder, the current block of video data based on the predictive block.

    Abstract: A video decoder including one or more processors configured to receive one or more bits, in a bitstream, that indicate the encoded current block of video data was encoded based on a unified candidate list that includes motion vector candidates based on one or more translational motion vectors, and motion vector candidates based on one or more affine motion vectors. A merge index represented in the bitstream may indicate which candidate in the unified candidate list is associated with the motionvector of the encoded current block of video data. Based on the merge index, the one or more processors are configured to select one or more motion vectors of a candidate from the unified candidate list, based on the merge index, where the candidate has one or more of the motion vectors corresponding to the translational motion vectors or affine motion vectors within the unified candidate list.

    Abstract: A video coding device includes a memory configured to store video data, and processing circuitry in communication with the memory. The processing circuitry is configured to determine that a current block of the video data stored to the memory is to be coded according to a merge mode, and to determine a temporal candidate associated with a merge candidate list for the current block in accordance with the merge mode. The processing circuitry is further configured to determine a pool of spatial candidates associated with the merge candidate list, based on each spatial candidate of the pool having a same reference picture as the temporal candidate, and to set a local illumination compensation (LIC) flag value for the temporal candidate based on respective LIC flag values of one or more spatial candidates of the pool.

    Abstract: An example device for coding video data is configured to determine that a block of the video data includes a plurality of sub-blocks, each of the sub-blocks having respective motion information referring to respective reference blocks in a reference picture in a memory, determine a single reference block of the reference picture, the single reference block including each of the respective reference blocks, wherein determining the single reference block comprises: determine four corner sub-blocks of the block included in the plurality of sub-blocks; and determine the single reference block according to the respective motion information for the four corner sub-blocks such that corners of the single reference block correspond to corners of the respective reference blocks of the four corner sub-blocks, retrieve data of the single reference block from the reference picture, and predict the sub-blocks from the respective reference blocks using the data of the single reference block.
