Abstract:
Aeronautical communication services is disclosed. For example, an aeronautical vehicle for use in a first aeronautical communication system to allow communication to and from a land-based station is disclosed, wherein the land-based station transmits communications using a first low frequency band and receives communications using a second low frequency band in accordance with a second aeronautical communication system. In the first aeronautical communication system, the aeronautical vehicle transmits communications using the first low frequency band and receives communications using the second low frequency band.
Abstract:
A system and method for classifying the user's morphology, and using that classification to control the UE in order to provide more efficient operation of the UE. The classification may be used to assist the user in determining its location more efficiently, without needless interruption or unnecessary use of system resources. The morphology classifier may classify the user's morphology into at least one of the following classifications: indoor, outdoor, local coverage, no local coverage, proximate to a base station, stationary, moving, urban, suburban, rural, deep indoor, mid indoor, and indoor near window. The classification may be used by the UE or by a remote server that utilizes the classification to develop assistance data that is sent to the UE.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are described for providing content using distributed broadcast access points that include wide area broadcast interfaces for receiving content and local and/or personal area network interfaces for communicating content to client devices. In an embodiment, a system transmits usage logging notifications to one or more broadcast access points. The broadcast access points log usage data regarding the usage of the broadcast access points by client devices and/or content accessed via the broadcast access points. The logged data is then optionally used to customize one or more channels of content. Different broadcast access points may have access to different channels of content. A given channel of content optionally includes content aggregated from a plurality of different sources.
Abstract:
The described apparatus and methods may include a controller configured to determine capabilities of at least one remote access terminal, and delegate at least one task to the at least one remote access terminal based on the capabilities.
Abstract:
Wireless communication devices for communicating via link aggregation in a heterogeneous wireless communication system are disclosed. One such wireless communication device includes logic configured to establish a first communication path between the wireless communication device and a network element, logic configured to discover a peer-to-peer communication link between the wireless communication device and a proxy access terminal, the wireless device and proxy access terminal being separate individual devices, logic configured to establish a second communication path between the wireless communication device and the network element using the discovered peer-to-peer communication link with the proxy access terminal, logic configured to receive data from the network element via both the first and second communication paths, and logic configured to aggregate the received data.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus in a communication system provide for concurrent processings of signals at the different frequencies. A received signal is down converted in a RF/IF system (490) to produce on-channel and out-of-channel received samples (305, 306). The on-channel received samples (305) are processed in a back-end portion 499 to decode on-channel information. The out-of-channel received samples (306) are processed to determine at least one of a link quality and global positioning system originated information in the back-end portion 499. The processings of the on-channel received samples (305) and the out-of-channel received samples (306) are performed essentially at the same time by the receiver back-end (499).
Abstract:
An adjustable filter is responsive to a control signal to change a frequency response of the adjustable filter based on at least one of a geographic location, frequency spectrum information, and a status of a secondary internal radio. The control signal may shift a center of the pass band from a first center frequency to a second center frequency and/or change a pass band bandwidth from a first bandwidth to a second bandwidth. A receiver includes an adjustable filter responsive to a control signal and controller configured to select a frequency response of the adjustable filter by generating the control signal based on a geographical location. In one aspect the geographical location indicates a region of operation of the receiver and the frequency response is selected in accordance with the region.

Abstract:
A novel power conservation scheme is provided for conserving power in client terminals by using a proxy server. The client terminal, having a low-power communication interface and a high-power communication interface, may power down its high-power communication interface, to conserve power. Prior to shutting off its high-power communication interface, the client terminal may assign an access point to act as a proxy for the client terminal. The access point monitors the paging channels for the client terminal. If the access point detects a paging message for the client terminal, it forwards at least a portion of the paging message to the client terminal via a low-power communication interface. Upon receipt of the paging message from the access point via its low-power communication interface, the client terminal may power up its high-power communication interface and directly respond to the access terminal.
Abstract:
Determining the location of wireless devices is improved by storing location information in RFID devices. As RFID devices come within range of each other they examine a confidence level associated with each others location information. The RFID device may update their location information based upon location information received from other RFID devices that have a higher confidence level.
