When a call is established with a wireless terminal, the terminal transmits a duplexing mode determination factor to the base station to set a time or frequency division duplexing mode for reverse transmission and determine access and hopping modes according to each of the division duplexing modes, and establishes forward and reverse channels according to the set time or frequency division duplexing mode for reverse transmission to communicate with the base station. The base station receives the duplexing mode determination factor from the terminal, sets a time or frequency division duplexing mode for reverse transmission and sets a time division duplexing mode for forward transmission based on the received factor, and determines frequency hopping and multiple access modes to communicate with the terminal according to the determined frequency and multiple access modes.

A symbol generator generates symbols to be transmitted via the multiple transmit antennas, and a PAPR calculator calculates a PAPR value for each symbol. A detector detects a maximum PAPR value among the PAPR values of the symbols. A controller outputs a control signal to reduce a PAPR value of a corresponding symbol when the detected maximum PAPR value exceeds a reference PAPR value. A PAPR reducer reduces the PAPR value of the corresponding symbol upon receipt of the control signal.

A method and apparatus for removing interference from a UpLink (UL) signal in a Time Division Duplex (TDD) system are provided. The method includes determining whether a section for receiving an UpLink (UL) signal from the MS overlaps with sections for sending a DownLink (DL) signal of neighbor BSs in service, the neighbor BSs sending the DL signal to another MS, when the UL signal section overlaps with the DL sections of the neighbor BSs, detecting DL transmit signal information from the neighbor BSs transmitting in the overlapping sections, and removing interference from the UL signal using the detected transmit signal information. Accordingly, the accuracy of detecting the signal from the MS can be raised without having to adopt the complex resource allocation scheme to avoid the interference of the neighbor BSs.

The spatial modulation method uses an index of an activated antenna and a signal modulation constellation as an information source. The spatial modulation method is applied to the transmitting apparatus. The receiving apparatus uses a spatial modulation detection method in which a channel path gain is repeatedly multiplied to detect the spatially modulated signal efficiently.
