摘要: A contamination of a printing medium caused by ink mist or the like is suppressed, which may scatter or float in an apparatus when margin-less printing is carried out in an ink jet printer. When margin-less printing for an edge of a printing medium P is performed, a predetermined edge area {circle around (1)} is printed using a smaller number of ejection openings during one scanning operation than that used for other areas {circle around (2)} and {circle around (3)}, while taking transportation errors relating to this end into consideration. This reduces the amount of ink mist resulting from ink ejected out of the edge of the printing medium during one scanning operation.

摘要: In a system to which a plurality of devices are connected, each device has heretofore required a connector for an AC adapter and a connector for a signal line. Further, in order to arrange it so that the amount of power supplied to the overall system will not exceed a limit value, it has been required to adjust the amount of power during system use by turning the power source of each device on or off. According to the present invention, a signal line for data transfer and a power line for supply of power in a system connecting a plurality of devices are consolidated in a single cable to make it possible to connect both lines to one connector of each device. The power controller of a certain device acquires the properties of a plurality of devices connected to this device, decides the optimum power distribution and controls the power controllers of each of the other devices.

摘要: An ink jet apparatus, used with an exchangeable ink jet cartridge having an ink jet head and an ink container, includes a cap, a sucking device and a controller. When the cap caps the ejection orifices of the recording head, the sucking device sucks ink from the ejection orifices. The controller controls the operation of the cap and sucking device. After a sucking operation is performed, the cap is held away from the ejection orifices for a predetermined duration of time; the capping and sucking operations are then repeated.

摘要: An ink jet printing apparatus capable of forming a high quality multivalued image without using a plurality of print heads and suited for a size reduction is provided. In an ink jet printing apparatus in which the electrothermal transducers are heated by a drive pulse to generate bubbles in ink and in which the pressure of the bubbles is used to eject ink droplets from nozzles onto a print medium to print an image, the drive voltage and the drive pulse width for the print head are changed simultaneously in accordance with print data. For example, when ejecting small droplets, the drive voltage for the nozzles is increased and the drive pulse width shortened. When ejecting large droplets, the drive voltage is lowered and the drive pulse width elongated.

摘要: A recording apparatus which is provided with a plurality of heads accompanied with temperature rise in recording by the application of driving signals comprises means for detecting the temperature in apparatus to detect temperatures in the recording apparatus; means for obtaining the temperature of the recording head from an offset value set between the temperature in apparatus and the temperature of the recording head of the recording apparatus in accordance with the detection by the aforesaid means for detecting the temperature in apparatus; and means for controlling the driving signal to change the waveforms of the driving signal applied to the recording head. With the structure arranged as above, the offset temperature is varied in accordance with the operational situations to obtain the head temperature without detecting it directly, hence maintaining the discharging amount constantly in printing and between environments in order to suppress the variation of the density of images to be printed, and also, reduce the cost of the printer main body and that of the head significantly.

摘要: The first print data indicating the discharging amounts of color and clear inks is generated in correspondence with an image to be printed with the color and clear inks. The second print data for designating a region for expressing decoration is generated. The discharging amount of the clear ink in the region for expressing decoration in the first print data is changed based on the second print data. Printing is done by scanning a printhead a plurality of number of times based on the changed first print data to execute the print scan of the clear ink after that of the color ink.

摘要: The first printing mode improves gloss uniformity by setting the colorless ink discharge amount to be equal to or smaller than a reference value A at a dark image portion in input image data, and performing normal discharge printing in which printing with a colorless ink starts before completion of printing with a color ink (FIG. 11C). The second printing mode implements a wide color reproductive range by setting the colorless ink discharge amount to be larger than A at the dark image portion, and performing post-discharge printing in which discharge of the colorless ink starts after completion of printing with the color ink (FIG. 11D).

摘要: The present invention aims to obtain preferable correction values to correct the conveying error of a conveying roller in accordance with the size of a printing medium, even when the conveying error caused by the eccentricity of the roller varies from a point to another in the longitudinal direction of a roller, depending on the amount and the state of eccentricity of the roller. To achieve this object, correction values are acquired using the whole part of or only a part of plural test patterns formed in the longitudinal direction of the roller. The correction values thus acquired correspond to the respective zones where the test patterns are formed.
