摘要: The present invention suppresses the adverse effect of air currents resulting from ink ejection, regardless of the moving speed of a print head, to allow high-grade images to be printed. Input image data is converted into print data corresponding to each of a plurality of nozzle arrays so that an amount of ink droplets ejected from each of the plurality of nozzle arrays and ejected per unit area is different depending on the moving speed of the print head.

摘要: This invention provides a printing apparatus which employs a print head constructed to minimize a memory area to hold ejection data and not requiring a sophisticated manufacturing technology and thus realizes a print mode to perform a higher-than-normal-resolution printing, making it possible to form a high quality image when needed. For each of cyan and magenta that make large contributions to the formation of an image, four nozzle arrays are allocated. For each of the remaining colors, two nozzle arrays are allocated. For cyan and magenta, the interval between adjoining nozzles of the paired two arrays is set to ¼ the nozzle pitch. For cyan and magenta, all of the four nozzle arrays are used in the high resolution print mode and, in the normal print mode, only two of the four nozzle arrays are used for printing. Of the paired adjoining nozzle arrays, only one is used.

摘要: In the case of printing in three-value level utilizing two kinds of inks mutually different densities for one color (higher and lower density inks), it is assumed that a reflection density of a region having a predetermined area when solid print is performed only by the lower density ink, and that when solid print is performed only by the higher density ink are expressed ODt and ODn, respectively. Since the granular appearance of the ink dots is expressed in terms of reflection density of one dot, the granular appearance of a lower density ink dot at a portion of image formed only by the lower density ink dots and the granular appearance of a higher density ink dot at a portion of image formed by the higher and lower density ink dots are expressed in terms of values of ODt and (ODn-ODt) divided by the number of pixels included in the above region, respectively. Accordingly, by making the reflection density ODt to be approximately one half of the reflection density ODn, the granular appearance produced by the lower density ink dot at the highlighted portion and the granular appearance produced by the higher density ink dot at the portion where the higher density ink dots scattered in the lower density ink dots can be made substantially equal to each other. For this purpose, it is preferable that a dye concentration of the lower density ink is to be about one fourth of that of the higher density ink.

摘要: A print apparatus that, without significantly reducing an overall printing speed, allows a reduction in uneven densities due to the discharge time difference between black ink and color inks, which occur particularly at both ends in a scanning range and which are caused by the printing by bidirectional scanning of print heads, and enables high image-quality printing to be realized. In this print apparatus, one band is divided into plural areas in a main scanning direction, the dot numbers of black ink and color ink imparted to respective areas are counted. If there are any areas where the dot numbers of both black and color exceed respective threshold values, the area number is counted, and if the number exceeds a predetermined number, the print mode is switched from bidirectional printing to a unidirectional one, upon determining that there is a high probability of occurrence of the above-described uneven densities.

摘要: An image processor in which an under color process is performed according to a color region to which input color image data belongs. The under color process generates a plurality of color component signals including a black component signal including a black component signal, with the color region being defined by hue. Therefore, even if input color image data includes color components other than an under color component, tonality (i.e., linearity between an input color value and an output color value) is compensated for.

摘要: In an ink-jet apparatus for forming images through use of an ink-jet head provided with a plurality of ink ejection heaters with respect to only one ejection orifice, an accurate estimation of temperature of the ink-jet head is made possible by controlling ink-ejection amount in a step-by-step manner. For this purpose, there is provided a device for counting frequency of use of the plurality of heaters within a predetermined period of time independently for each combination of the heaters for ejecting different amount of ink (in steps S1002, S1003), and a combining device for adding a correction value to each of the thus counted value on the basis of the heater driving condition, and converting the total value into the energy applied within a predetermined period (in steps S1008, S1004 and S1005). The estimation of temperature is performed by use of the thus obtained energy.
