    摘要: An inflatable restraint module mounting mechanism is disclosed for use in mounting an inflatable restraint module to a support structure such as the hub portion of a steering wheel. The inflatable restraint module is provided with a plurality of mounting members which are adapted to pass through and be retained within apertures in a support plate. The mounting members each include a slot for receiving a spring which traverses across the apertures of the support plate. The slots are preferably sized such that the mounting members are supported for limited movement in a direction longitudinal of the mounting members to permit actuation of a horn circuit. In addition, the springs are movable in a lateral direction to facilitate insertion of the mounting members through the apertures in the support plate.

The method comprising: stamping a blank material to form a periphery and a central opening of the backing plate, wherein a mounting surface is located between the central opening and the periphery; and deep drawing at least one mounting member from the mounting surface, wherein the at least one mounting member provides a securement feature for the backing plate.

    摘要: A method an apparatus for providing a horn switch assembly for securing an inflatable cushion to a steering wheel armature, the horn switch assembly comprising: a backing plate defining a receiving area, the receiving area being configured to receive at least a portion of the inflatable cushion, the receiving area being defined by a peripheral wall of the backing plate; a plurality of mounting members depending outwardly and away from the peripheral wall, the plurality of mounting members providing a mounting surface, wherein the mounting surface of the plurality of mounting members is configured to receive a mounting mechanism therein, wherein each of the plurality of mounting members further comprises a contact point secured thereto; a plurality of isolation mechanisms each being configured to be secured to the steering wheel armature, wherein at least one of the plurality of isolation mechanisms comprises a guide pin and a locking pin for guiding and movably securing one of the mounting mechanisms thereto and each of the plurality of isolation mechanisms comprises a portion of a wire having a non-insulated portion disposed proximate to the contact point of one of the plurality of mounting members; and a biasing member disposed between each of the plurality of isolation mechanisms and a respective one of the plurality of mounting members, wherein the backing plate is capable of movement between a first position and a second position, wherein the contact point of one of the plurality of mounting members makes contact with the non-insulated portion of the pair of wires in the second position providing a conductive path therebetween.

    摘要: An inflatable restraint module mounting mechanism is disclosed for use in mounting an inflatable restraint module to a support structure such as the hub portion of a steering wheel or a dashboard, on a vehicle. The inflatable restraint module is provided with a plurality of pin members which are adapted to pass through and be retained within apertures in a support plate. The pin members are slidable through the apertures and include clip members for engaging the support plate to thereby retain the restraint module on the support plate. The clip members are formed of a resilient material whereby the clip members are adapted to bias locking members radially outwardly for engaging the support plate and to prevent the pin members from separating from the apertures.
