摘要: A first substrate includes, on one side thereof that is closer to a liquid crystal layer, a picture element electrode provided for each picture element region, a switching element, and a bus line. A second substrate includes a counter electrode opposing the picture element electrode. The picture element electrode includes a plurality of openings and a solid portion that includes a plurality of unit solid portions. In each picture element region, the liquid crystal layer takes a vertical alignment in the absence of an applied voltage, and forms a plurality of liquid crystal domains, each of which takes a radially-inclined orientation, in the plurality of openings and the solid portion by inclined electric fields produced at respective edge portions of the plurality of openings of the picture element electrode in response to an applied voltage. In each picture element region, at least one of the plurality of openings of the picture element electrode that is located along the bus line and located between two adjacent ones of the plurality of unit solid portions is superposed on the bus line.

摘要: A non-coated gravure printing paper offering good gravure printability—particularly as evidenced in the reduced generation of speckling, was obtained by improving the cushioning property of the paper and thus improving its adhesion with the photogravure cylinder—by means of adding a substance or substances, such as surface-active agents, which will inhibit the binding between pulp fibers in the paper and which, when added to an ideal level of 0.3 weight % of the bone-dry weight of pulp, will reduce the tensile strength of paper in the machine direction by 5 to 40% as measured in accordance with JIS P 8113, compared with the level when no such substance is added.

摘要: A soft stretch yarn substantially comprising polyester fibers has a stress, at 50% yarn stretch, of no more than 30×10−3 cN/dtex and, at the same time, a percentage recovery of at least 60%. Preferably, the Uster unevenness is no more than 2.0% and the crimp diameter is no more than 250 &mgr;m. This soft stretch yarn can be produced by spinning yarn of conjugate fibers comprising two types of polyester in which one component is PTT at a take-up velocity of at least 1200 m/min, drawing at a drawing temperature of 50 to 80° C. at a draw ratio such that the drawn yarn tensile elongation is 20 to 45%, and then heat setting.

摘要: There is provided an image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus, after controlling so as to develop the developer image representing the predetermined image formed a plurality of times in the same location on an image carrier by an exposing component, controls such that without performing exposure with the exposing component, the developer image, developed on the image carrier by the developing component applying a biasing voltage to the developer so as to adhere the developer to the image carrier including to the same location on the image carrier, is transferred to the transfer component and detects whether or not a ghost image is generated by comparing the density detected by a detecting component at a position of a transfer body corresponding to the same location of the image carrier to a reference density.
