摘要: Provided are a non-reciprocal unit used for a polarization dependent type optical isolator and a polarization dependent type optical isolator that are simple in structure, can prevent damages due to light and heat and can obtain a high extinction ratio. In a polarization dependent type optical isolator, an input side lens (first lens) (5), a first birefringence unit (7), a Faraday rotator (9), a second birefringence unit (11) and an output side lens (second lens) (15) are arranged from the input side to the output side. The polarization dependent type optical isolator (1) is connected with optical fibers (3, 17) on the input and output sides, respectively, wherein a wedge angle (θ1) of the first birefringence unit (7) is different from a wedge angle (θ2) of the second birefringence unit (11).

摘要: When an image is captured by an imaging apparatus such as a wearable terminal that is not on the premise that the image is captured in an upright state, it is not possible to estimate objects included in the captured image is like in order to correct a tilt of the captured image. Therefore, in some cases, a tilt angle of the captured image is possibly estimated based on one or more areas which are not suitable for estimating the tilt angle of the captured image, and the captured image is corrected based on the tilt angle incorrectly estimated. This deteriorates the quality of the captured image even worse. An image processing device pertaining to the present invention divides the captured image into a plurality of areas, determines a directional characteristic shown by a texture of each of the divided areas, and estimates the tilt angle of the captured image based on one or more areas whose textures have the unidirectional characteristic so as to correct the captured image with use of the estimated tilt angle.

摘要: When classifying pictures, to enable classification having high robustness by generating indexes for classification, dynamically changing processing areas within the picture based on a video content.A picture classifying unit (104) in a video scene classifying device (100) classifies obtained plural pictures into plural clusters based on a classification index which indicates a feature of the pictures. A cluster selecting unit (106) selects at least one cluster among the classified clusters. An index generating unit (108) assigns the index to at least one picture among the pictures which constitute the selected cluster. Thus, when selecting a cluster, among classified clusters, which is suitable to index assignment, by selecting an indexing rule based on relatively simple information, such as the number of clusters, time distribution, and the EPG information, and generating an index accordingly, a clear and stable chapter can be generated.

摘要: A hinge structure and a hinge structure member capable of relieving stress concentration around the connected portions of the hinge structure. The hinge structure comprises a pair of connection portions connected to the connected portions and an elastically deformable hinge portion having both ends arranged continuously with the pair of connection portions so that the pair of the connected portions can be swingably connected to each other. At least one of the connection portions extends in a specified axial direction along the specified surface of the connected portions, and connected continuously with the surface over a specified length.

摘要: A plasma display unit applies data pulses of a predetermined polarity to data electrodes in odd-numbered columns and applies data pulses of an opposite polarity to data electrodes in even-numbered columns. The plasma display unit applies scanning pulses which are inverted between positive and negative polarities in first and second states that occur alternately, to scanning electrodes in odd-numbered rows, and applies scanning pulses which are inverted between positive and negative polarities in the first and second states in opposite relation to the scanning pulses applied to the scanning electrodes in odd-numbered rows, to scanning electrodes in even-numbered rows. Pixels arranged vertically and horizontally in a two-dimensional matrix are alternately energized in a staggered grid pattern, so that the number of pixels that are simultaneously energized is half the number of pixels of a conventional plasma display unit. A writing failure of wall charges due to a voltage drop of scanning pulses is prevented from occurring with an AC-discharge, surface-discharge plasma display unit having an increased size.

摘要: A fault detection system for an arithmetic unit includes a shift-and-add type multiplier which is capable of both normal multiplication and division for calculating a quotient as a product of a dividend and an approximated reciprocal of a divisor, a modulo 3 emulator emulating the multiplier in modulo 3 arithmetic, a modulo 3 converter converting the multiplication result of the multiplier into a modulo 3 equivalent, an error detector comparing outputs from the modulo 3 converter and the modulo 3 emulator to detect a bit error, and a control unit. The control unit supplies, to the modulo 3 emulator and the modulo 3 converter, a control signal representing either a normal multiplication mode, a multiplication mode for calculating a product of a divisor and a reciprocal of the divisor, a multiplication mode for calculating a product of a dividend and a reciprocal of a divisor, or a multiplication mode for generating a partial quotient in a division process. The control unit also controls generation of modulo 3 equivalents in the modulo 3 emulator and the modulo 3 converter.
