The present invention is directed to a continuous process for the production of powdered polyisocyanate addition products in finely divided form which by simultaneously (a) mixing a polyisocyanate component, an isocyanate-reactive component and an inert organic medium containing a surfactant, wherein at least one of the components is insoluble in the inert organic medium, in a low shear stator-rotor dynamic mixer operating at speeds of about 300 to 8000 rpm, utilizing a mixing wattage of about 0.05 to 10.0 watts per cubic centimeter and having a mixing volume of at least about 0.1 liters and (b) reacting the polyisocyanate component with the isocyanate reactive-reactive component in the inert organic medium to form solid polyisocyanate addition products which can be separated from the inert organic medium to form a powder, the average residence time of the components and the inert organic medium in the dynamic mixer being about 3 to 300 seconds and the overall flow rate through the dynamic mixer being at least about 20 kg/h.The present invention is also directed to the powdered polyisocyanate addition products produced by this process.

What is claimed is a magnetic storage medium in which the polyurethane binder system forms a three-dimensional network independently of reactive low molecular weight substances present on the magnetic pigment or in the dispersion and the production of such a storage medium. The binder in the colored magnetic layer consists of a reaction product of polyisocyanates having an average functionality of from 2.1 to 4 (A) with predominantly difunctional aromatic amino-terminated polyurethanes having an average molecular weight of at least 10,000 (B) and optionally one or more hydroxyl group-containing polyesters having an OH number of from 100 to 450 (C), and/or predominantly difunctional aromatic polyamines having a molecular weight of from 100 to 400 (D) the ratio of isocyanate groups present in (A) to the isocyanate reactive groups present in (B), (C) and (D) being from 0.3:1 to 20:1, preferably from 0.8:1 to 20:1. With this binder system, it has been possible to achieve direct linkage of the polymeric binder chains and to suppress side reactions. This has enabled a soft polyurethane agent to be used, with the result of smooth dispersion of the magnetic lacquer and hence increase in the signal/noise ratio of the magnetic recording medium. The subsequent cross-linking which takes place according to the present invention enables the mechanical properties of the recording medium to be adjusted to the exact result required after the magnetic lacquer has been applied to a support.

The invention relates to an improved process for the production of polyamines containing urethane and/or urea and/or biuret and/or isocyanurate groups and, preferably, also alkylene ether, carbonate and/or acetal groups by the alkaline hydrolysis of corresponding compounds containing terminal aliphatic and/or aromatic isocyanate groups.To this end, the compounds containing terminal NCO-groups, preferably NCO-preadducts, are converted by means of selected bases into the carbamates and neutralized by introduction into equivalent quantities of acid or by the simultaneous introduction of the components in equivalent quantities into a reaction vessel, after which the polyamines are directly isolated by methods known per se.The invention also relates to the use of the polyamines obtained by the process for the production of polyurethanes.

There is disclosed a drip-forming device and system for drip irrigation. The device includes a tube and a rod having one end inserted into the tube by an adjustable amount, the rod being formed with at least one longitudinal groove which extends along at least part of the length of the rod and which is in communication with the part of the interior of the tube not occupied by the rod and whose depth decreases progressively away from the said one end over at least part of the length of the groove. With such devices, the output of each device can be simply adjusted to suit the local requirements, irrespective of the size, alignment and supply pressure of the complete irrigation apparatus, by adjustment of the depth of insertion of the rod in the tube. For a constant pressure the water output decreased with increasing depth of rod insertion -- i.e., as the minimum cross-section of the groove at the point of insertion of the rod in the tube decreases. At different pressures depending, for example, on gradient, the water output from different devices can be made equal by varying the depth of insertion of the rods in the tubes appropriately, such depth being increased as the pressure increases - i.e., the minimum cross-section has to be decreased.
