    摘要: A vane pump is composed of a casing having a cylindrical inner bore and a rotor disposed in the inner bore with an eccentric relation to the inner bore. A circular pump chamber formed between the rotor and the inner bore is divided by vanes disposed in the rotor into plural pump chambers each changing its capacity according to rotation of the rotor. The vane is slidably disposed in a groove formed in the rotor in a slanted relation with respect to a rotational axis of the rotor. When the rotor rotates, the vane is pushed backward of the rotational direction by fluid in the pump chamber. The pushing force includes a component for pushing the vane upward toward an upper plate closing an upper opening of the inner bore. The vane is pushed against the upper plate to thereby prevent hitting noises between the vane and the upper plate.

    摘要: A detector for detecting evaporated fuel leakage from a fuel tank is connected to the fuel tank through a canister for absorbing evaporated fuel. When an engine is not in operation, air in the fuel tank is sucked by a pump installed in the detector. If the pressure in the fuel tank decreases to a predetermined level, it is determined that the evaporated fuel leakage is within a permissible range. An orifice passage, formed in the detector, connecting a tank passage to a sensor passage communicating with a sensor chamber where a pressure sensor is disposed is slanted relative to the tank passage to shorten the passage distance up to the pressure sensor. Further, the orifice passage is connected to the sensor passage at an obtuse angle to reduce a pressure loss in the passages. Thus, the leakage of the evaporated fuel is surely detected while making the detector compact.

An apex angle of a contact prism is inputted by operating an apex angle setting knob of a control panel. A fitting angle of the contact prism is inputted by operating a fitting angle setting knob. A control unit determines the amount of correction for astigmatism of a left observation optical system and the amount of correction for astigmatism of a right observation optical system based on a recognized observation magnification and the inputted apex angle. An axial angle for the astigmatism of the left observation optical system and an axial angle for the astigmatism of the right observation optical system are determined based on the inputted fitting angle. Variable cross cylinder lens rotating drive units are controlled to rotate cylinder lenses of each of the right and left observation optical systems, thereby obtaining the determined axial angle and the determined amount of correction.

    摘要: When detection of an abnormality in a fuel vapor treating system is executed, a vapor zone including a fuel tank and a canister is sealed. The sealed vapor zone is pressurized. Whether fuel vapor is leaking from the vapor zone is determined based on the pressure in the sealed vapor zone. A canister valve selectively connects a canister with and disconnects the canister from the atmosphere. During the abnormality detecting procedure, an electronic control unit (ECU) shuts the canister valve. After the abnormality detecting procedure is ended, the ECU sends a control signal having a predetermined frequency to the canister valve, thereby gradually increasing the opening size of the canister valve. Accordingly, the pressure in the vapor zone is gradually lowered to the atmospheric pressure. This prevents fuel vapor adsorbed by the canister from being released to the atmosphere.

    摘要: A cleaning apparatus includes a cleaning cloth, supply shaft, take-up shaft, detector, projections, proximity switch, and catching detection unit. The cleaning cloth is pressed against a rotary member and cleans an outer surface of the rotary member. The cleaning web before cleaning is wound around the supply shaft. The supply shaft rotates in accordance with supply operation of the cleaning cloth to the outer surface of the rotary member. The take-up shaft is rotatably driven to take up the cleaning cloth supplied from the supply shaft to the outer surface of the rotary member. The detector, projections, and proximity switch output a signal corresponding to a rotational speed of the supply shaft. The catching detection unit detects that the cleaning cloth is caught in the rotary member on the basis of a state of the signal output from the detector, projections, and proximity switch. A method of detecting catching of the cleaning web in the cleaning apparatus is also disclosed.

    摘要: An ink jet recorder comprises a carriage for holding an ink jet head, capable of sweeping across a recording medium, an ink cartridge for supplying ink to the head, and a detector for detecting whether the fluid level of the ink inside the ink cartridge is at a prescribed level. At least two detection operations are performed by the detector. If two of those detection operations indicate an ink fluid level short of the prescribed level, ink cartridge replacement is displayed on a display. Erroneous ink level judgments can thus be held to a minimum even when the ink forms waves inside the ink cartridge due to the movement of the carriage in the sweep direction.

    摘要: The electromagnetic valve has a valve body capable to open and close a fluid communication path, first and second springs opposing to each other and biasing the valve body. Biasing forces of the first and second spring toward the valve body are balanced with each other so as to have valve body open the communication path. When a coil is energized, a moving member is driven so as to have the valve body move against the biasing force of the first spring during a first moving stroke so that an elastic energy may be stored in the first spring. When the coil is de-energized, the valve body is moved back by the first spring not only during the first moving stroke but also during a second moving stroke to absorb the elastic energy stored in the first spring by the second spring. There is an enough space where the moving member may move back during the second moving stroke so as not to hit any part.
