摘要： An information processing system includes: a client executing acquisition and reproduction of contents; a management server providing the client with content selection information applied for acquisition of contents; and a content providing server receiving the content selection information from the client and providing the content selected in accordance with the content selection information, wherein the content selection information includes content identifiers as identifiers of encrypted contents respectively encrypted by different encryption keys and range information indicating data areas of range data which is configuration data of respective encrypted contents, and the content providing server provides the client with an encrypted content formed by combining range data as partial data of the encrypted contents specified by the content identifiers and the range information.

摘要： An information processing apparatus, including: a data processing section reproducing contents stored in a medium having a general purpose area in which encrypted contents and utilization controlling information corresponding to the contents are stored, and a protected area configured from a plurality of blocks to which access limitation is set and which include a block in which an encryption key for decrypting the contents and information of a plurality of validity periods indicative of content utilization permission periods applied to the application contents of the encryption key are stored, wherein the data processing section acquires the utilization controlling information of a reproduction object content, extracts selection information of validity period information to be applied to the content, and decides whether or not content reproduction is to be permitted by comparison between the validity period information selected from within the block and current date information in accordance with the selection information.

摘要： A virtual machine can be implemented by anyone because the interface and other information necessary for implementation are publicly available. Hence, if virtual machine is implemented maliciously, a program operating thereon can be made to operate maliciously instead of operating legitimately.By comparing secret information held in memory and specific to the virtual machine with verification information which a program holds itself, the program verifies that the virtual machine on which it is running has been legitimately implemented and excludes illegitimate virtual machines.

摘要： A video signal processing apparatus, a video signal playback apparatus, and a video signal recording apparatus are presented for preventing illegal copying of thumbnail images. For example, a thumbnail encoder generates a thumbnail image of a video signal input from a terminal. A macrovision detector, a CGMS detecting/updating unit, and a WM (watermark) detecting/updating unit detect an analog copy protection signal (APS), a CGMS signal as copy generation management information, and watermark, respectively, of the video signal input from the terminal, and outputs them to a controller. The controller generates copy control information of the thumbnail image based on the input copy control information. The thumbnail image and the copy control information thereof are recorded in an information recording medium. This may be applied to a recording apparatus for recording data into an information recording medium and to a playback apparatus for playing back data recorded in an information recording medium.
