摘要: The disclosure describes various aspects of techniques for using global interactions in efficient quantum circuit constructions. More specifically, this disclosure describes ways to use a global entangling operator to efficiently implement circuitry common to a selection of important quantum algorithms. The circuits may be constructed with global Ising entangling gates (e.g., global Mølmer-Sørenson gates or GMS gates) and arbitrary addressable single-qubit gates. Examples of the types of circuits that can be implemented include stabilizer circuits, Toffoli-4 gates, Toffoli-n gates, quantum Fourier transformation (QTF) circuits, and quantum Fourier adder (QFA) circuits. In certain instances, the use of global operations can substantially improve the entangling gate count.

摘要: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for contactless image-based blood oxygen estimation. A method may include receiving an image or video of a part of a subject captured by a camera of a computing device. The method may also include extracting a region of interest of the part of the subject from the image or video. The method may further include performing feature extraction of the region of interest. In addition, the method may include estimating a blood oxygen saturation level of the subject based on a spatial and temporal data analysis of more than two color channels. Feature extraction and estimation of the blood oxygen saturation level may include implementing a combination of spatial averaging, color channel mixing, and temporal trend analysis.

摘要: An audio control system includes at least one microphone, at least one speaker, and one or more processors. The at least one microphone is at a first position adjacent to an ear of a user and configured to detect a sound field at the first position and output a sound signal indicative of the detected sound field. The at least one speaker is at a second position spaced from the first position and configured to output sound responsive to receiving an audio signal. The one or more processors are configured to generate the audio signal based on the sound signal and a target parameter of the sound field at (i) the first position and (ii) a third position spaced from the first position; and provide the audio signal to the at least one speaker to cause the at least one speaker to output the sound responsive to receiving the audio signal.

摘要: Disclosed are microcapsule compositions and methods for encapsulating living cells. The methods include a microencapsulation approach to isolate and culture high-quality stem cells, including human iPSCs, cancer stem cells, cardiac stem cells, and the like. The microencapsulation methods are inspired by the development of blastomeres into a blastocyst within the Zona pellucida of the human female reproductive system. The bioinspired methods include encapsulation of blastomere-like cell clusters in a Zona-like microcapsule including a miniaturized hyaluronic acid-rich core and a semipermeable hydrogel shell. The cell clusters are subsequently cultured to form highly pluripotent spheroids with improved cell quality, homogeneity, and viability. Methods of use of said microcapsules are also disclosed including therapeutic uses related to human iPSC-based personalized medicines.

摘要: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for contact-free heart rate monitoring and/or measurement are provided. One method may include receiving video(s) that include visual frame(s) of individual s) performing exercises, detecting some exposed skin from the video(s), and performing motion compensation to generate color signals for the exposed skin to precisely align frames of the exposed skin. The method may also include generating the color signals by estimating a skin color for each frame by taking a spatial average over pixels of a cheek of the face(s) for R, G, and B channels, respectively, applying an operation to remove remaining motion traces from the frames such that the heart rate traces dominate, and extracting and/or outputting the heart rate of the individuals using a frequency estimator of the skin color signals.

摘要: In a metal fiber composite (MFC) additive manufacturing (AM) method, a layer of polymer structures is deposited using a fused filament fabrication (FFF) printer assembly comprising at least one nozzle. Subsequently, an MFC printer assembly is used to embed a continuous metal fiber into one or more of the polymer structures of the layer. The embedding is achieved by heating the metal fiber and applying pressure to the metal fiber using an embedding surface of the MFC printer assembly. The heated metal fiber melts polymer adjacent thereto, thereby allowing the pressure to embed the metal fiber into the polymer structure. Using the MFC-AM method, various composite structures can be formed, such as novel heat exchangers that may otherwise be difficult or impossible to fabricate via other manufacturing techniques.

摘要: Human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) possess tremendous potential for tissue regeneration and banking hiPSCs by cryopreservation for their ready availability is crucial to their widespread use. However, contemporary methods for hiPSC cryopreservation are associated with both limited cell survival and high concentration of toxic cryoprotectants and/or serum. The latter may cause spontaneous differentiation and introduce xenogeneic factors, which may compromise the quality of hiPSCs. Here, sand from nature is discovered to be capable of seeding ice above −10° C., which enables cryopreservation of hiPSCs with no serum, minimized cryoprotectant, and high cell survival. Furthermore, the cryopreserved hiPSCs retain high pluripotency and functions judged by the pluripotency marker expression, cell cycle analysis, and capability of differentiation into the three germ layers. This unique sand-mediated cryopreservation method may greatly facilitate the convenient and ready availability of high-quality hiPSCs and probably many other types of cells/tissues for the emerging cell-based translational medicine.

摘要: Highly transparent (up to 92% light transmittance) wood composites have been developed. The process of fabricating the transparent wood composites includes lignin removal followed by index-matching polymer infiltration resulted in fabrication of the transparent wood composites with preserved naturally aligned nanoscale fibers. The thickness of the transparent wood composite can be tailored by controlling the thickness of the initial wood substrate. The optical transmittance can be tailored by selecting infiltrating polymers with different refractive indices. The transparent wood composites have a range of applications in biodegradable electronics, optoelectronics, as well as structural and energy efficient building materials. By coating the transparent wood composite layer on the surface of GaAs thin film solar cell, an 18% enhancement in the overall energy conversion efficiency has been attained.
