    摘要: Printing apparatus which provides full font character and dot matrix printing with an endless band having full font printing elements and dot printing elements spaced successively on the band. In order to provide the proper spacing of the characters, either formed with the full font elements or the dot matrix elements and to provide for graphics printing capabilities, a plurality of hammers are movably mounted on a shuttle which reciprocates along the print line. A plurality of fixed armatures selectively impact the hammers as they are moved. Predetermined, incremental hammer movements provide standard, compressed or expanded horizontal character and/or dot spacing.

    摘要: A printing hammer assembly for use in impact printers includes a printing hammer which has an impact surface and an armature and which is supported to be movable in a reciprocating manner along its longitudinal axis, a driving solenoid which drives to move the printing hammer forward when energized against the force of a coil spring which normally applies a biasing force to the printing hammer in the backward direction and a yoke leading a magnetic flux produced by said solenoid to the armature of printing hammer. A pair of magnets are disposed such that they are magnetically repulsive to each other with one of them fixed in position and the other movable over a predetermined distance thereby allowing to absorb the rebounding energy of the hammer when it returns to its home position.

The configuration enables a high density of printer wires to be achieved, with elimination of magnetic interference between adjacent magnetic flux circuit paths leading to uniform printing density.

    摘要: A cross hammer type dot printer comprises a rotary drum having an outer peripheral surface formed with a plurality of projections extending along its longitudinal axis, and a printer head disposed in front of the drum and movable in a direction which is perpendicular to the direction in which a recording medium is fed. The printer head faces the drum in a way in which it substantially crosses the projections on the drum, and includes an electromagnetically operable printing hammer. The projections are displaceable vertically relative to the printing hammer upon rotation of the drum, while the printing hammer is horizontally displaceable relative to the projections upon movement of the printer head, so that when the hammer strikes against the projections, dots are printed where they cross each other. The printer head of this invention is suitable for use in such a cross hammer type dot printer. It can be made of a small number of parts, and is small.

    摘要: A single piece trigger and knock off mechanism for a switch operated card printer includes a lever integrally connected to a resilient mounting bracket which provides a first flexural pivot. The lever comprises a pair of integrally connected arms, each provided with an ear. A moving card contacts the ear on one arm, causing the lever to swing about the first flexural pivot. As the lever swings, the ear on the other arm contacts a switch which triggers a card printer solenoid. The solenoid operates a card printer hammer. The card printer hammer is driven towards the card when the solenoid is triggered. As the hammer is driven towards the card, a moveable element associated with the card printer strikes the arm whose ear is in contact with the switch, causing the arm to swing about a second flexural pivot formed by a bend in the arm. As the arm swings, the ear releases the switch. This knocks off the solenoid just before the hammer contacts the card.

    摘要: An improved print hammer and actuator mechanism therefor are described. The hammer mechanism comprises a solenoid plunger and push wire or push rod which is directly affixed to one end of the hammer. The opposite end of the hammer is flexibly or pivotably mounted by a spring. The spring is rigidly affixed to the bottom portion of the hammer. It is flexed or twisted to enable the hammer top portion to be deflected. A shock absorbing connector connects the push wire to the print hammer. The position of the solenoid plunger can be adjusted by adjustable abutments at either end of its throw. This adjusts the flight time and the impact force, as well as the relative rest position of the hammer face, since the push wire is firmly connected to both the plunger and to the top of the hammer mechanism. The shock absorbing connector between the end of the push wire and the hammer mechanism controls the amount of force applied at impact.

    摘要: An electromagnet consists of two essentially symmetrically designed magnetizable E-shaped yoke halves each embraced by a coil. The facing pole ends of the yoke halves form three aligned operating gaps. Between the operating gaps a tongue-shaped ram is arranged which is shiftable in the direction of the line of alignment of the operating gaps. The cross-section of the ram is adapted to the area of the operating gaps. The ram comprises cuboid-shaped armature bars of magnetizable material. The armature bars are geometrically designed in such a manner that their volume is on the order of magnitude of the operating gap volume. In the original position of the ram the armature bars are essentially positioned in front of the operating gaps of the electromagnet. Upon excitation of the electromagnet, the armature bars are pulled into its operating gaps, being accelerated in the process.The windings of the coils exciting the yoke halves are essentially positioned between the E-legs of the yoke halves.By transverse connecting means made of the same material as themselves, the armature bars may be connected to form a continuous part. In view of the operation of the actuator, these transverse connecting means do not have the same material thickness as the armature bars, that is, they take the form of narrow connecting strips between the armature bars.

    摘要: An electromagnetic ram actuator, the electromagnet of which consists of two symmetrically designed magnetizable yoke halves. The facing pole ends of the yoke halves are in each case essentially semicircularly recessed, forming two aligned essentially circular operating gaps. Between the operating gaps a ram is arranged which is shiftable in the direction of their line of alignment and whose cross-section is adapted to the area of the operating gaps. The ram comprises two armature disks of magnetizable material and a spacer element arranged therebetween consisting of predominantly non-magnetizable material. One armature disk is associated with each operating gap. The armature disks are geometrically designed in such a manner that their volume is of the order of the operating gap volume. In the starting position of the ram the armature disks are positioned in front of the operating gaps of the electromagnet in its non-excited state. Upon excitation of the electromagnet, they are pulled into its operating gaps, being accelerated in the process. The ram actuator is particularly suitable for use in impact printers.
