摘要: In a first aspect, the invention is directed to an undercarriage for a tracked vehicle. The undercarriage includes a main frame including a frame body and an equalizer bar extending laterally on either side of a pivot connection with the frame body, a first track frame and a second track frame. A first front spherical bearing connects a first end of the equalizer bar and the front end of the first track frame. A second front spherical bearing connects a second end of the equalizer bar and the front end of the second track frame. A first rear spherical bearing connects the rear end of the main frame to the rear end of the first track frame. A second rear spherical bearing connects the rear end of the main frame to the rear end of the second track frame. The spherical bearings between the rear end of the main frame and the rear ends of the track frames permit the rear ends of the track frames to accommodate the arcuate movement of the front ends of the track frames as the equalizer bar pivots about its pivot connection when the vehicle travels over uneven terrain. The spherical bearings further on both the front and the rear of the vehicle also permit the tracks of the vehicle to more fully contact the ground when the ground is not perfectly flat. An example of such a situation may be when the vehicle travels on a road which is crowned.

摘要: A tread assembly has front and rear main idler wheels supported by a frame. An assembly is provided to permit the front idler wheels to pivot laterally as the cart encounters uneven ground, in order to improve weight distribution across the tread and the idler wheels. The rear idler wheel also has an assembly to permit the rear idler wheel to pivot laterally. An alignment feature is incorporated into the front idler wheel assembly to permit adjustment of the alignment of the front idler wheel relative to the rear idler wheel. A tensioning mechanism is provided at the rear idler wheel to maintain the tread in tension. A bogie wheel structure is pivotally connected to the frame and positioned between the front and rear idler wheels.

摘要: A rough-terrain vehicle employs separate track drives located on opposite sides of a vehicle body, like the wheels of a car. The tractor drives can revolve the track to permit track-driven travel. The drives can also halt the tracks relative to the drives and rotated the entire track drive that supports the track in which case the track drive rotates like a wheel. The latter mode provides an ability to traverse very rough surfaces. To provide high ground clearance, the support connecting the track drive to the vehicle body is located above the axis of rotation of the track drive. Almost the entire transmission mechanism for the track drive is confined to a volume enclosed by the loop of the track protecting it. The track drive supports the track on a polar array of wheels, each located along the line that divides the track into two loops.

摘要: A suspension system for tracked vehicles has a plurality of interconnected air bags that is used to more evenly distribute the weight of the vehicle superstructure over the belt track. The more even weight distribution improves floatation of the vehicle over the ground, and reduces instability and wear of the superstructure. A tensioner with a pressurized air bag can be used to increase the tension on the belt track during vehicle operation. The pressure in the tensioner air bag can be reduced to ease the tension on the belt track for efficient servicing.

摘要: A vehicle capable of high speed operation over rough terrain has a suspension system including an elevated drive wheel, a front idler wheel, and a rear idler wheel with an elastomeric drive belt entrained therearound. The drive belt is driven by friction, and the suspension system includes a front suspension strut device having a recoil mechanism and a resilient front strut that resiliently biases the front idler wheel forwardly and downwardly. A braking device is in a protected location within side portions of the front idler wheel and reacts against the front suspension strut device to brake the vehicle. Such braking reaction minimizes the reduction of frictional engagement between the drive wheel and the drive belt due to the reaction of the drive belt against the recoil mechanism when traveling forwardly.

摘要: An improved suspension is provided for a track vehicle between a track frame (24,26) and pivot shafts (40,42) on the tractor. The suspension includes an inboard elastomeric assembly (82) and an outboard elastomeric assembly (84) which incorporates an elastomer (100). The elastomer is designed to provide different spring rates in the vertical direction than the horizontal direction parallel the length of the tractor. This permits the vertical spring rate to be set for most effective isolation of the sprung weight (14) of the crawler tractor while the horizontal spring rate is determined by the significant loads induced by an implement, such as a bulldozer blade (12) on the tractor.

摘要: A vehicle such as a combine harvester or the like includes a main frame, a track roller frame pivotally connected to the main frame, a drive wheel including a hydraulic drive motor having a housing and a rotatable shaft assembly, and an equalizer bar connected in a first embodiment to the shaft assembly by a coupling device including an anti-friction bearing and a trunnion member having a pair of pivot pins arranged along a substantially horizontal and longitudinally extending axis. In a second embodiment the equalizer bar is connected to the housing by another coupling device including a trunnion member having a pair of similarly oriented pivot pins. In each instance the transversely oriented equalizer bar is arranged along the transversely oriented central axis of the drive wheel, which provides a very stable 3-point frame suspension that is also rugged and economical and has a minimal tendency to collect mud or debris on the upper surfaces thereof in use.
