摘要: A label printer including a printing section for printing a given image on a label, a label issue opening for issuing the label after the given image is printed thereon by the printing section, a sensor having a light emitting element and a light receiving element, a first prism having a reflecting surface located on one side of the label issue opening, and a second prism having a reflecting surface located on the other side of the label issue opening. The light emitted from the light emitting element is reflected on the reflecting surface of the first prism, and is then reflected on the reflecting surface of the second prism to reach the light receiving element. When the label is issued from the label issue opening, an optical axis between the reflecting surfaces of the first and second prisms intersects a surface of the label. Thus, the presence of the label projecting from the label issue opening can be surely detected.

摘要: A continuous paper autoloading mechanism for a thermal printer comprises a continuous paper supply section, a paper feeder, a pitch sensor for detecting the pitch of labels or tags detachably attached to the continuous paper and for producing pitch signals, a paper guide and a printer section having a paper feeding capability, all disposed in succession in the direction of paper feed. The paper feeding functions provided by the paper feeder and the printer section are synchronized and controlled in response to the pitch signals for feeding the leading edge of a first label on the continuous paper into proper alignment with the printer head, in a manner which avoids wastage of labels and carbon ribbon during the autoloading process.

摘要: Circuitry including a first and second source of electrical energy provides a continuous supply of electrical energy to a volatile memory circuit utilized within an electrical apparatus. The circuitry includes an on and off switch and allows for the first source of electrical energy to be supplied to the volatile memory when the switch is both in an on and off position. The secondary source of electrical energy is only used to supply electrical energy to the volatile memory when the first souce of electrical energy is either inoperative or disconnected from the circuit. Such circuitry allows for conservation of power of the second source of electrical energy which in some electronic apparatus may include a lithium battery that may be relatively difficult to replace.

摘要: Method and apparatus for applying labels to articles which are particularly useful for articles which are relatively flimsy and dimensionally unstable, such as plastic carriers for a plurality of filled containers wherein the carrier has a top panel and a skirt extending downwardly therefrom with surface areas on the skirt for receiving labels. In the embodiment shown a series of articles are indexed through a label receiving position. Labels are transferred from a label supply and are pressed against the label receiving surface area on the skirt of the article. The opposite side of the skirt is supported against substantial movement while the label is being pressed against the skirt. An adhesive is applied to the label receiving area on the skirt as the article is being indexed into the label receiving position.

摘要: A hand-held labeler, particularly a labeler employing a thermographic print head, utilizes improved control circuitry for accurately sensing the position of the web and controlling the operation of the print head in order accurately to control the position of the imprints on the web. When a motor is used to advance the web, the control system is operative to control the operation and speed of the web advancing motor.

摘要: A banding and labeling system for containers includes a central drum which is heated for activation of adhesive coating provided on bands and labels which are to be secured to containers. The drum is provided with carrying elements employing suction, referred to as mouthpieces, which include pockets for holding literature and support bands in appropriate positions for securing the literature to containers. Dispensers are mounted peripherally around the drum at successive work stations for transference of banding materials, labeling materials, and literature packets to the mouthpieces as the drum rotates. At a final work station, a conveyor transports the containers to the drum whereupon the banding and labeling materials are secured to the containers during rotation of the containers between the drum and pressure pads which engage the adhesive coatings to the outer surfaces of the containers. Vacuum valves are provided for initiating and for terminating suction via sets of suction holes to various portions of each of the elements which are to be mounted on the containers. The initiation and termination of vacuum permits the transference of the foregoing elements from the dispensers to the drum and from the drum to the containers.

摘要: Apparatus for transferring self-adhesive labels from a supply roll to continuously advancing containers or packaging material, including means for simple, on-site adjustment of the label positions with respect to the velocity and/or spacing of the items to be labeled. The labels move on a conveyor belt transversely of the material flow path, while an indicator moves oppositely to and in synchronism with the conveyor belt past one or more sensors controlling the conveyor belt drive. The positions of the sensors are easily adjustable to correspond to the desired labeling positions.

摘要: Elements are supplied to a work station with the elements being arranged in a row. The elements are releasably retained at the work station. The articles to which the elements are to be transferred are moved through the work station with the row of elements at the work station extending in the same direction as the direction of article movement. Each of the elements is transferred to an associated article as the articles are moved through the work station. The elements are sequentially transferred with the most downstream element always being the next element to be transferred.
