摘要： A generally cylindrical drum of heat stress and corrosion resistant construction, and having an opening therein, is rotatably mounted on a frame movable on rails along the coke side of the coke oven battery. A movable cover is fixed to the shell and covers the opening in the shell through which hot coke passes, when pushed from a coke oven chamber. A hood is fixed to the structure supporting a coke guide and has a movable portion that coacts with the rotatable shell when coke gravitates into the shell. The drum is rotatable to several positions. Means are included to quench the hot coke and to extract the particulate laden steam which is generated by the quenching operation. Additional means are included to remove noxious gases and particulate matter which emanates from the hot coke.

摘要： An apparatus for receiving incandescent coke from respective coke ovens of a horizontally arranged battery of coke ovens, comprises a wheeled carriage which is adapted to move backwardly and forwardly along the battery of coke ovens. A coke cake receiving device is mounted on said carriage and includes a hood portion which is adapted to be aligned with each of the coke ovens upon movement of the carriage to the particular coke oven to be discharged and which also includes means for separating contaminants from the gases which are generated from the coke and for discharging purified gases. The coke hood portion has an openable and closable lateral door for receiving the irridescent coke from the associated oven and for closing the hood thereafter. The coke entering the hood is received by a tank arranged below the hood. The tank may be formed so as to provide a closed or sealed connection with the hood portion and it includes engagement means thereon which permits either the tank alone or the tank with the hood portion to be lifted away from the carriage for transport to a separate location for discharge of the coke. When the coke receiving tank is disassociated from the hood, it is engaged with a cover so that it will keep the coke therewithin and prevent gases escaping therefrom during its movement.

摘要： A coke quench car having a slanted bottom and discharge opening in one wall is provided with a movable grate at the discharge opening to drain water and retain coke. A door outboard of the grate closes the discharge opening in a substantially liquid-tight condition and accumulates quench water in the car to submerge the coke. Means are provided for selectively opening the door to drain only water at the quench station and for later opening the grate to discharge the quenched coke at the coke wharf.A second embodiment provides a tilting bottom coke car with a first sealing means for sealing the car in substantially liquid-tight condition to accumulate water and submerge the coke. A second sealing means are provided to permit the floor to be tilted to a liquid discharge position to drain only water. Means are provided for tilting the floor between an open and closed and intermediate liquid discharge position.

摘要： Apparatus for the smokeless pushing and transportation of hot coke. A bucket whose interior volume is large enough to receive the entire contents of a coke oven is positioned in alignment with a coke oven whcih is to be emptied while a cover on top of the bucket, a hood extending from the cover to a coke guide, and the coke guide itself all define a space closed off from the outer atmosphere and through which the coke travels while being pushed from the coke oven into the bucket. After the bucket is filled with this coke, it is transported on a car which carries the bucket to a bunker where the bucket is raised to the top of the bunker into which the ocntents of the bucket are emptied so that dry-quenching of the coke can take place in the bunker. The space between the bucket and the bunker is also closed off from the outer atmosphere during charging of the bunker with coke from the bucket. Then the empty bucket is returned to the next oven which is ready for pushing. During pushing of coke from an oven into the bucket, gases, vapors, and particulate matter which might otherwise escape to the outer atmosphere are withdrawn from the space through which the coke travels from the oven to the buckets, and this withdrawn matter is cleaned in a suitable scrubber so that only clean gases are released to the outer atmosphere.
