An explosive device includes a hollow container having an inner volume holding an explosive. A piezoelectric ceramic connected to the container also has an electrical connection to the explosive. A deformation of the container applies mechanical stress to the piezoelectric ceramic which produces a potential difference or an electric current discharged using the electrical connection. The discharge detonates the explosive. The piezoelectric ceramic may be inside the container or on an outer surface and may be later inserted into the container to arm the explosive device. The container may have an outer surface that is an electrical insulator to prevent accidental electrostatic detonation. The explosive is optionally a plastic explosive. The electrical connection to the explosive optionally includes electrical conductors spaced apart to form a gap that is dimensioned to enable a spark to cross the gap when the piezoelectric ceramic deforms a pre-designated amount.

A percussive rodent trap has an activation mechanism and a hammer for striking a percussive device when the activation mechanism is activated. A first safety moves the hammer mechanism to a cocked position and prevents it from being released from this cocked position. A second safety can be engaged after the first safety is engaged to prevent the activation mechanism from being activated when the first safety is removed. The second safety is easily removed after the trap is put in place without inadvertently activating the activation mechanism.

An anti-tank mine with a wide area of action comprising means for detecting a target of the tracked-vehicle type and a mine body incorporating a pyrotechnic charge, means for controlling the triggering of the mine in response to a signal given by the target detection means, means for firing the charge and means for propelling the mine body triggered by the control means. The target detection means are associated with reinforcement means to constitute at least one flexible guide-detection cable serving as a guide when the mine body moves under the action of the propelling means in response to the detection of a target. Preferably a plurality of guide-detection cables spreadable in several different directions around the mine body are used.

A main explosive charge in the housing, a clearing charge located between the main charge and each end wall; explosive firing means; a mechanical gravity-controlled switch including a body formed with a cavity having two spaced outlet passages and an intermediate inlet passage, and a weight movable in the cavity; a firing train connecting each of the outlet passages to one of the clearing charges; and a firing train connecting the firing means to the inlet passage; the weight being movable by gravity when the mine comes to rest to a position wherein the firing train connected to the upper clearing charge is exposed to, and the firing train connected to the lower clearing charge is isolated from, the firing means.

A device for triggering a safety sequence such as the release of a parachute from the load which was suspended from it, at the time of impact of the ground. When the load is dropped from the aircraft, the parachute deploys and causes the valve of a gas reservoir to be opened. The gas fills an expansion chamber and, when the pressure becomes sufficient, acts on a first safety latching system controlling a second electrical safety system. When the load reaches the ground, a sensor is actuated and makes the second electrical safety system to be activated. This latter makes an explosively separating system to be worked whereby the parachute is released from the load.

The land - mine of parent Specification 1,005,388 is modified by a cover member 3 having a spherical surface 51 with a centre of curvature which lies above the mine body, or in an upper part thereof, and which is supported by an annular member with an upper web 52a, having a conical surface supporting the surface 51 of the cover member, a cylindrical web 52c forming an axially directed guide, and a web 52b disposed between the webs 52a and 52c, and having a lower conical surface supported by a spherical surface 53 of an annular elastic buffer member 54, having a centre of curvature below the mine or in a lower part thereof. The web 52c is guided on a fuse receiver member 55 which is connected to the mine casing by rivets 56. The material of the spherical surfaces 51 and 53 is harder than that of the webs 52a and 52b, so that when the cover member is subjected to heavy loading its freedom of movement is ensured. The edge 52bk of the web 52b can abut an edge 52k of the member 55, and act as a shock absorber. A fuse is retained in the member 55 by springs 60. An arming device comprises lugs 67 which project above a cover 62 and entered from a rotatable ring 66 having recesses 68 into which pins 64 can move to release a slider 63 and allow it to be moved towards the fuse by a spring 69. An opening in the bottom of the casing 1 is closed by a metal cover 57. A heat fusible screw 58 is located in the side of the casing 1, together with an auxiliary detonator 59, so that the mine can be used for demolition work.
