    摘要: An apparatus and method of up-dating an existing alarm monitoring system control panel having installed wire loops, with detectors coupled thereto, and installed end-of-line resistors. Upon removal of the existing control panel, the loops are coupled to an up-graded control panel having an adjustable loop interface. The existing loops can be coupled to the adjustable loop interface. The interface automatically determines operating loop voltages in view of existing end-of-line resistors. Detectors on the loops can be read without any changes needed to end-of-line resistor values. Determined operating loop voltages can be digitized and stored in the up-graded control panel for subsequent use in monitoring loop operating characteristics.

    摘要: An alarm sounder, which incorporates a piezo-electric output transducer, can be silently monitored using a variable frequency square wave. An initial frequency, close to the upper limit of human hearing, is coupled to the sounder. The transducer draws very little current at this initial frequency. The frequency of the square wave is systematically reduced, and the current draw is continually monitored. A high current indicates a low impedance type of fault. A low current throughout the frequency range indicates a potential high frequency type of fault.

    摘要: An alarm system for a computer-based monitoring system such as a patient medical monitoring system is provided. The system comprises a main processor connected to a first speaker, a second processor communicatively connected to the main processor for exchange of messages; and a second speaker controlled by the second processor. A sensor is communicatively connected to the main processor of the monitoring system for receiving input such as physiologic input from a patient. The second speaker acts as a back-up in the event that the main processor fails to annunciate an alarm or an operator fails to respond to the first alarm within a predetermined time interval. An audible alarm is sounded when the main processor or second processor are not functioning normally.
