摘要: A switching device has an input terminal and an output terminal for connection to electrical conductors, and two switching contacts which, when closed, close a current path between the input terminal and the output terminal. A disconnect device is operatively connected to at least one of the input terminal and the output terminal for disconnecting the two switching contacts. An arc quenching chamber composed of a plurality of metal plates is arranged in the region of the switching. At least two of the metal plates abut one another at least over a region to attain high reliability and operational safety even after repeated disconnects.

摘要: A circuit interrupter has a first contact, a second contact movable with respect to the first contact, an arcing chamber, and an arc splitter. The arc splitter is located on a first side of the first contact, as is an arc runner. An electrical conductor is connected to the arc runner having a first portion running from the first side of the first contact towards a second side of the first contact, the second side being opposite the first side with respect to the first contact. A second portion is connected to the first portion and the second contact; the second portion is located on the second side of the first contact. A current running through the arc runner and the electrical conductor generates a magnetic force on the arc moving the arc toward the arc splitter.

摘要: An arc-quenching core assembly is disclosed for an electric switch, such as a circuit-breaker or motor circuit-breaker, having arc-quenching plates, or sheets, arranged in parallel and including ferromagnetic material, wherein the sheets can be at least partially coated on at least one face with another material. The arc-quenching core assembly is composed of a series of first quenching sheets, completely or partially coated on both faces and second uncoated quenching sheets, or of a series of third quenching sheets, completely or partially coated on one face and uncoated on the other, thus creating a series of coated and uncoated arc-quenching sheet broad faces in the stacking direction. The arc-quenching sheets are arranged one behind the other in the stacking direction in such a way that at least two uncoated arc-quenching sheet broad faces are located between a coated arc-quenching sheet broad face and a next coated arc-quenching sheet broad face in the stacking direction.

摘要: A protective device for an electrical installation, having at least two electrodes between which an electric arc can form, and a device for interrupting (6) the arc, extending between an upstream end (6A) and a downstream end (6B), with an entry region (E) for the arc at the upstream end (6A) thereof, at which point the arc enters the breaker device (6). The breaker device (6) has an insulation means (10) which permit the arc to enter the breaker device (6) while forming an obstacle to reaching the exit for the arc. The insulation means (10) are formed by one or more flexible ribbons which form a partial insulation barrier between the electrodes and the upstream end (6A). The invention further relates to overload and short-circuit protection devices.

摘要: An electric arc extinguishing mechanism is provided for an electric current switching apparatus of the type having a pair of contacts which selectively engage to complete an electric circuit. The mechanism includes a plurality of splitter plates located adjacent to the contacts and formed of electrically conductive material. Each splitter plate has a body of electrically conductive material, and a casing with a pair of planar portions on opposite sides of the body and connected by the curved edge portion. The edge portion is adjacent the contacts with the planar portions extending from the edge portion in an open loop having a gap. Any arc introduced between adjacent splitter plates moves around the open loop before being extinguished thereby not residing in one spot long enough to cause gross melting and associated erosion of the splitter plate.

摘要: In a circuit breaker, an arc is produced between a pair of switchable contact members when these contact members are opened due to overcurrent. An arc extinguishing apparatus is employed to extinguish an arc produced between the opened contact members. The arc extinguishing apparatus includes a plurality of U-shaped metal arc extinguishing plates which are stacked, and a pair of insulating plates made of a synthetic resin. These insulating plates are mounted on both inside surfaces of leg portions of the extinguishing plates.
