摘要： A method of loading bales of refuse from a horizontally acting baling press on to a transport vehicle without the use of a separate loading machine such as a fork-lift truck comprises aligning the transport vehicle with a discharge from the press; moving each bale as it is discharged from the press on to a transverse table; moving some of the bales laterally so that the bales are formed into two or more rows side by side aligned with the transport vehicle and moving the two rows of bales progressively forwards as successive bales are discharged from the press so that the rows are moved from the transverse table on to the vehicle and the rows are built up on the vehicle until the vehicle is fully loaded. The apparatus for carrying out this method comprises a discharge table arranged at the outlet of the press, a transverse table aligned with the discharge table and on the side of the discharge table remote from the press, the transverse table having a drive by which it is horizontally displaceable across the direction of discharge of the bales from the press and a longitudinally movable hauling tongs which is arranged to move single bales forwards from the discharge table on to the transverse table and then to move the two or more rows of bales which are assembled from the transverse table forwards on to the transport vehicle.

The bale wagon includes a mobile frame pivotally supporting a stack forming load bed, a bale support and transfer mechanism for depositing the bales at a predetermined position on the load bed, a pickup mechanism for moving the bales from the field to the support and transfer mechanism, and a pusher mechanism for moving the bales along the load bed from the predetermined position. A control mechanism coordinates the functioning of the components so as to form a multi-layered stack of bales with each succeeding layer centered on and containing one less row of bales than the previous layer.

摘要： Bale carrier apparatus for rapidly and easily handling and transporting large cylindrical hay bales. The bale carrier has a main support frame including a pair of spaced apart longitudinal support arms and hitch means connected to one end of the main support frame for detachably connecting the support frame to a towing vehicle. Means are provided to selectively raise or lower the support arms in relation to the ground surface between a lowered position wherein the support arms are positioned at a height below the axial height of a bale to be loaded and spaced apart by a distance less than the diameter of the bale, and a raised position wherein the support arms supportively engage the bale so as to lift the bale above the ground to a load carrying position. In operation, the support frame is positioned adjacent the bale to be loaded so that the axis of the bale projects between the support arms. The support arms are placed in their lowered position so that the support frames may be moved so as to position the bale between the support arms. The support arms are thereupon moved to their raised position so as to supportively engage the bale and raise it to a load carrying position.

摘要： Apparatus to load, transport, and unload cylindrical bales of material generally comprising a frame disposed on a trailer. The end pickup mechanism generally comprises a pair of forks secured to a shaft rotatably secured to the end of the trailer and a second set of arms extending downwardly to the ground at an angle and a set of tines pivotally secured to the end of said arms to allow limited pivotal action relative to the ground. The tines are tapered to permit horizontal pickup of a bale of material which upon rotation of the shaft transmits the bale to the vertical arms which are moved to a horizontal position onto a second set of arms on a second shaft. By rotation of the second shaft the bale is moved to a third set of arms and the bale is moved sequentially along the trailer in this manner. The bales are unloaded by reversing the direction of the shafts. This process permits picking up of the bale, moving it along the trailer, transporting the bale, and unloading it by reversing it along the trailer and placing the original bottom of the bale back on the ground so that no further waste will occur in the bale.

摘要： A self loading multiple bale trailer comprises an elongated trailer frame with a belt conveyor extending from end to end and a lift fork for engagement at the lower periphery of a large round bale at the side of the trailer, for example, by forward motion of a tow vehicle. The lift fork is supported on a frame which is connected by an arm to a sleeve slidable on a verticle shaft and having an hydraulic cylinder for lifting the bale. The sleeve is also rotatable about a vertical axis to swing the lifted bale a half circle from the side of the trailer to a position over the conveyor for deposit thereon. The conveyor is operable to move the deposited bale to a desired position along the trailer, and may also be used to discharge the bale from the rear of the trailer or to reengage the lift fork with the bale. In an alternative form, the bale may be handled by a penetrating spike instead of lift fork legs, which spike may be utilized, in a quarter turn position, in unwinding the bale for feeding.

摘要： The device includes a bed which is pivotally attached to a transverse axle supported by a pair of wheels. The bed is pivotable on the axle for lowering either end to a position proximate the supporting, ground surface. The bed contains a pair of parallel beams, the free ends of which are attached to laterally diverging bale guides for surrounding a bale to be lifted onto the beams. The beams also contain downwardly converging bale contacting surfaces each of which includes a recessed conveyor chain having protruding spikes for engaging the bale. The beams are spaced so as to cradle the bale between them while the spikes slide the bale upwardly along the beams. A pivotal tongue is attached to the transverse axle for towing the device directly behind a tow vehicle or towing the device behind and laterally to one side of the tow vehicle.

摘要： An improved bale wagon is disclosed which employs novel apparatus for maintaining the positional integrity of bales in a tier during the transfer thereof from a bale-accumulating table to a load bed. A pair of stationary open frame structures extend from the main frame adjacent the bale-accumulating table upwardly and rearwardly to the respective sideboards on each side of the load bed to provide a retaining wall adjacent the path of travel of the opposing sides of the bale-accumulating table. The retaining structures prevent the outward dislocation of bales during the transfer step, even in steep hillside conditions and thus promote increased operation efficiency.

摘要： A bale wagon employing a stack side evener comprising, in its most simple form, a plurality of fixed, spaced apart parallel fins which passively direct a moving bale toward a predetermined position. Generally, the type of bale wagon given consideration in the instant application includes a bale-receiving area onto which bales are deposited, a bale:accumulating area upon which tiers of bales are assembled, and a load rack upon which multiple tiers of bales are deposited to accomplish the formation of a stack. The wagon further includes some mechanism for moving bales from the bale-receiving area to the bale-accumulating area. The stack side evener comprises a multiplicity of fixed fins which engage the bottom of the bale during the transfer step described, and guide it toward a stop member which serves to commonly orient one side of the tier being formed. In its most complex form, the stack side evener further includes a cross conveyor on the bale-receiving area which employs conveyor flights which are angularly oriented similarly to the fins. When the transfer mechanism causes the bales to move toward the bale-accumulating area, both the flights and the fins engage the bottom of the bale and direct it toward the predetermined position.
