Abstract: A dual-purpose container and diversion device for animals includes a base and a perimeter wall attached to the base. An inner surface and outer surface of the container combine to form an overall surface. The device includes at least a linear fault region in the overall surface having a lesser tensile strength and including at least a first non-intersecting open curve forming a first planar section; the at least a linear fault region may include at least a second curve defining a bracing component. The device is convertible to a second configuration forming a diversion device for an animal, by fracture of the at least a linear fault region to form at least a first flap and rotation of the at least a flap into a second position; conversion may include movement of the at least a bracing component to support the at least a flap in the second position.

Abstract: An animal enclosure including a plurality of members defining an interior of the enclosure. The plurality of members includes a first member having a frame and a door formed by a plurality of interconnected horizontal and vertical wires. The door is pivotable with respect to the frame and a latch maintains the door in a closed position when latched. At least one of the wires of the door assembly is configured to include one of an access portion and a tab, and at least one of the wires of the frame assembly includes the other of the access portion and the tab. The latch, when moved to an open position, enables sliding movement of the door with respect to the frame. Alignment of the access portion and tab provides for opening of the door and pivoting movement of the door with respect to the frame.

Abstract: A computer system and method for identifying and monitoring animals in a confined space. A tracking apparatus is provided having a plurality of antenna arrays in proximity to a confined space. One or more animals to be disposed in the confined space are associated with a detection component operable to identify and detect a core body temperature of an animal it is associated with when detected by the tracking apparatus. Data is received in a computer monitor system from a detection component when detected by the tracking apparatus in the confined space. The received data identifies an animal in correlation with its motion and temperature data. Real-time position and core body temperature of a detected animal is determined while the animal is disposed in the confined space by analysis of the received data in the computer monitor system.

Abstract: An enrichment system and method for animals in captivity is disclosed. Generally speaking, the system includes an automated dispenser and a plurality of tokens to be placed about an animal enclosure. The dispenser includes a suitable housing, a reservoir for containing animal-suitable rewards, a token receptacle, a reward output connected to the reservoir, and a mechanism for releasing animal-suitable rewards from the reservoir into the reward output when tokens are deposited into the receptacle. The mechanism for releasing animal suitable rewards is activated by the deposit of a token in the token receptacle. The unique method includes placing tokens about an enclosure for an animal, positioning an animal reward system at least proximate the enclosure, allowing an animal in captivity to find tokens, teaching the animal to deposit tokens within the token receptacle to thereby automatically activate the mechanism for releasing animal-suitable rewards, and allowing the animal to collect dispensed rewards from the reward output.

Abstract: A pet privy system is provided that is compact for shipping, and can be easily and quickly assembled by an owner. The system includes a cloth enclosure that has sidewalls and a top. A frame assembly supports the cloth enclosure, and includes a top frame, first and second side frames connected to the top frame, and cross-members that are connected between opposite sides of the first and second side frames from the top frame. A removable pan having a length and a width is provided, with the length being less than a distance between the first and second side frames. The pan is slideable between the first and second side frames. An inner guard wall is also provided having two sides and a back that are connected together and located inside the frame assembly and are adapted to be located between the sidewalls of the cloth enclosure and the removable pan.
