    摘要: A snowboard boot and binding system is disclosed which facilitates the engagement and disengagement of a snowboard boot and binding. The snowboard boot may include a boot engagement member extending from a rear of the boot. The boot engagement member is moved downwardly into a corresponding binding engagement member to provide an arrangement which prevents forward movement of the boot. The boot engagement member also may include one or more serrations to engage with one or more pawls on the binding to prevent upward movement of the boot. A snap-in arrangement may be provided in a boot toe region. The boot has protrusions extending outwardly from each side of the boot to engage with catches on the binding sidewalls. As the boot is pressed downwardly into the binding, the protrusions splay the catches until reaching recesses, at which point the catches rebound to capture the protrusions against upward movement.

    摘要: An exoskeleton (E) for connecting footwear to sporting equipment. The exoskeleton has an underfoot base (7), an ankle cuff (3) connected to a heel portion of the underfoot base, a first restraining brace (2a) having an anterior end connected to the medial side of a forefoot portion of the underfoot base (7), and extending rearwardly and diagonally at least to the lateral side of the ankle cuff, and a second restraining brace (2b) having an anterior end connected to the lateral side of the forefoot portion of the underfoot base (7), and extending rearwardly and diagonally at least to the medial side of the ankle cuff. The first and second restraining braces (2a, 2b) are configured such that when an item of footwear is enclosed by the exoskeleton (E), the restraining braces extend over and support a portion of the item of footwear.

    摘要: A snowboard binding is provided for releasably connecting a boot to a snowboard. One embodiment of the invention includes inner and outer main bodies to receive a two-piece cleat. A second embodiment includes inner and outer hooks for hooking, and a latch for securing, a one-piece cleat. A third embodiment includes a front main body and a spring-loaded latch in a rear main body for engaging a one-piece cleat. A fourth embodiment engages a one-piece cleat with inwardly beveled, semi-circular inner and outer main bodies. A fifth embodiment engages a one-piece cleat with a front main body and a latch, fixedly mounted upon an axle, within a rear main body. The latch is biased toward the engaged position by a spring. In a sixth embodiment of the invention, a one-piece cleat is engaged with a front main body and two rear spring biased latches. In a seventh embodiment, among other things, the cleat is formed in two pieces.

    摘要: A boot/binding system for a snowboard wherein the boot includes a sole and transverse bar having two ends. A binding includes a base defining a horizontal plane and a median plane. The binding is selectively fixed to the board in a plurality of positions and is pivotal about an axis which is perpendicular to the horizontal plane and intersects the horizontal plane at point O. The binding includes two vertical plates arranged substantially parallel to the median plane, each of the vertical plates including a vertical groove into which one end of the transverse bar of the boot is insertable. The ends of said bar are held inside each groove by a pivoting cam elastically held in position. A first region of contact of the bar end is in contact with a front wall of the groove and the first region of contact is contained in a normal plane formed by the front wall of the groove. The normal plane is arranged perpendicular to the median plane and to the horizontal plane and the first region of contact is located at a distance in the backward direction from point O of between 0 and 30 millimeters. A second region of contact of the bar is in contact with the cam and the second region is contained in a parallelpiped volume defined by three plane sets, the plane sets comprising: (1) an M plane and an M' plane which are situated behind and parallel to the normal plane, the M plane and M' plane being respectively at a distance of 5 and 10 millimeters from the normal plane; (2) a Q plane and a Q' plane which are situated above and parallel to the horizontal plane, the Q plane and Q' plane being respectively at a distance of 12.5 millimeters and 22.5 millimeters from the horizontal plane; and, (3) an R plane and a R' plane, which are parallel to the median plane and are coplanar with each of the vertical plates, the R plane and R' plane being from 2 to 8 millimeters apart.

    摘要: A boot binding apparatus for a snowboard where the snowboard boot includes a first securement in the form of a front hook member and a second securement in the form of a rear hook member which are imbedded within the sole of the snowboard boot. The snowboard boot is flexible in order to bend in the same manner as a conventional soft boot. The boot binding apparatus includes a front latching mechanism and a rear latching mechanism with the front latching mechanism including a latching hook member with this latching hook member facing toward the toe edge of the snowboard. The rear latching mechanism is movable between a latching position and an unlatching position with the rear latching mechanism being continuously biased toward the latching position. The latching hook member of the front latching mechanism may also be movable and continuously biased in a direction toward the toe edge of the snowboard. With the snowboard boot engaging with the boot binding system, the sole of the snowboard boot is in direct flush contact with the upper surface of the boot binding apparatus being totally enclosed and protected from contamination by snow and debris while engaged.

    摘要: An improved snowboard binding system allows the snowboarder to maintain full control of the snowboard while also allowing the snowboarder to rotate the feet during the operation of the snowboard without the requirement of manual adjustment. A binding base (22) is attached to the snowboard and contains a circular, downward-facing surface (23) having several discontinuities. A boot catch structure (26) is attached to the user's boot and has a corresponding number of upward facing planar surfaces (27) that fit into the base surface discontinuities. Engagement of the binding is accomplished by the insertion of the boot catch into the binding base and relative rotation of the two parts. The binding system is equipped with a locking plate (24) that guards against accidental release of the binding system.

Also, the transverse axes of the front and rear retention devices are spaced apart by a distance that is common to at least two boot sizes, enabling the length of the boot to be released and allowing the front and rear ends of the boot to be freed of all retention elements with respect to the board, such elements extending exclusively in a lateral direction with respect to the sole.
