摘要: A method for reconditioning a railcar coupler is disclosed, including determining, using a gauge, an amount of wear to a coupler pulling lug; cleaning a surface of the coupler pulling lug experiencing the wear; and applying a weldment to the surface of the coupler pulling lug experiencing the wear to increase the thickness of the coupler pulling lug. The amount of weldment applied to the coupler pulling lug is preferably equal to the amount of wear experiencing by the coupler pulling lug to bring the thickness of the coupler pulling lug back to its original thickness or very close thereto.

摘要: A vehicle coupling assembly includes a bearing bracket, a rod, a pin and an abutment element. The bearing bracket includes compressible elements, a connection member intermediate the compressible elements, and a rear plate rearward of the connection member. The rod has an end wall, a first side of which is adjacent to one of the compressible elements. The pin extends through the compressible elements, a connection member hole defined in the bearing bracket, and an end wall hole of the rod. A pin support surface at a first pin end faces a first side of the connection member, one of the compressible elements being between the pin support surface and the second side of the connection member. The abutment element is at a second pin end, and abuts a second side of the end wall of the rod.

摘要: Articulated connectors are attached to and extend from center sills of adjacent car units of a multi-unit railroad freight car, connecting the car units to each other and to a shared truck. The center sill of each of the car units includes a top member that is of increased thickness at the outer end of the center sill. A weld extending along a shoulder that extends around the main body of s portion of the articulated connector attaches the articulated connector portion to the outer end of the center sill with ample strength to carry draft and buff train loads as well as the weight of the car unit and its lading, without the need for weld joints inside the center sill.
