    摘要: A directional mine for combatting armored vehicles includes a projectile having a propelling device and a warhead; a support structure positioning the projectile prior to launching the projectile therefrom and electric circuitry for serving the projectile. There is further provided an arming unit including a battery, and an igniter accommodated in a housing insertable into and removable from the support structure; an ejector for pushing the housing out of the support structure; a locking device for retaining the housing in the inserted position and for preventing the ejector from becoming effective; a timer for placing the locking device in a releasing state after a predetermined period for allowing the ejector to push the housing outwardly; and electrical contacts mounted in the support structure and on the housing. Respective contacts are in engagement with one another in the inserted position of the housing.

    摘要: The mechanical device may be applied to anti-personnel mines of the type ejected from the ground by a throw-charge and deflagrated in the air by an explosive charge to cover a wide action range. The device comprises an igniter operable by either pressure or traction, and a throw bowl concealable in the ground and enclosing an ejectable body containing all the other components of the mine including a throw charge, an explosive charge, a firing pin for the throw charge, and a firing pin for the explosive charge. The igniter is disengageably connected to the ejectable body, and the firing pin for the throw charge is connected to the igniter and is operable to ignite the throw charge responsive to pressure or traction on the igniter. A detonator is provided for the explosive charge, and the ejectable body encloses a mounting member, mounting the firing pin for the explosive charge in a stable position spaced substantially from the detonator and a substantial distance out of alignment with the detonator. A flexible tensile member interconnects the mounting member and the throw bowl. When the throw charge is ignited to eject the body from the throw bowl, the tensile member exerts a restraining force on the mounting member which causes the firing pin for the explosive charge to be moved into alignment with the detonator and then impacted against the detonator when the ejectable body is a pre-selected distance above the throw bowl.

    摘要: A pressure sensitive explosive composition is provided which is rendered insensitive to water or water vapor by means of a coating of an organo-functional silane capable of polymerization on contact with water or water vapor. Additionally, a method is provided of coating such a composition by the use of the abovementioned silane in a halocarbon solvent having a relatively low vapor pressure at ambient conditions. The composition may be a mixture of an inorganic oxidizer and fuel such as potassium chlorate, red phosphorous and ground glass or a mixture of a primary explosive such as lead azide and a secondary explosive such as RDX, either mixture being coated with a silane such as gamma ( Beta aminoethyl) aminopropyl trimethoxy silane applied from a volatile halocarbon liquid such as 1,1,2 trichloro-1,2,2 trifluoro ethane. The silane, after evaporation of the liquid, coats the composition and polymerizes on contact with water or water vapor to form a water impermeable film and this renders the composition insensitive to water deactivation.

    摘要: A safety device is provided for inclusion into a dispenser for permeable chemically armed mines which are stored in a desensitized state by immersion in certain halocarbon liquids. A fluid which will permanently sterilize or deactivate the explosive composition of the mine is encapsulated in a sealed frangible container. The container is then partially enclosed in a polymeric material which has the property of swelling while under the influence of certain organic liquids and then forcefully contracting when this influence is absent, thereby breaking the container and permitting the encapsulated material to contact and permanently desensitize the explosive. For example, KOH encapsulated in a glass ampoule which is, in turn, enclosed in a tube of buna rubber. This device can be inserted in a dispenser loaded with chemically armed mines containing lead azide and RDX as the explosive, the dispenser is then filled with 1,1,2 trichloro- 1,2,2 trifluoro ethylene, to insure desensitization until activation is desired.
