Abstract: A method for seismic surveying comprises deploying a plurality of seismic receivers proximate an area of subsurface to be surveyed. At least one seismic energy source moves in a path that circumscribes a center, wherein positions of the plurality of seismic receivers remain fixed. At least one of a distance between the path and the center changes monotonically as seismic energy source traverses the path, or the center moves in a selected direction as the seismic energy source traverses the path. The source is actuated at selected times as the at least one seismic energy source traverses the path, such that a spacing between positions of the source along the source path and transverse to the source path varies between successive actuations of the source. Seismic energy is detected at the plurality of seismic receivers resulting from actuating the at least one seismic energy source.

The extension member promotes ambient water flowing inside an air bubble generated when the compressed air is released outside the body.

The low pressure piston may be configured to move in response to a pressure differential across the low pressure piston such that a resonance frequency of the marine vibrator may be changed.

Abstract: A method for 2D seismic data acquisition includes determining source-point seismic survey positions for a combined deep profile seismic data acquisition with a shallow profile seismic data acquisition wherein the source-point positions are based on non-uniform optimal sampling. A seismic data set is acquired with a first set of air-guns optimized for a deep-data seismic profile and the data set is acquired with a second set of air-guns optimized for a shallow-data seismic profile. The data are de-blended to obtain a deep 2D seismic dataset and a shallow 2D seismic dataset.

Abstract: Hydraulic pulses are produced each time that a pulse valve interrupts the flow of a pressurized fluid through a conduit. The pulse valve includes an elongate housing having an inlet configured to couple to the conduit to receive the pressurized fluid, and an outlet configured to couple to one or more tools. In the housing, a valve assembly includes a poppet reciprocating between open and closed positions, and a poppet seat, in which the poppet closes to partially block the flow of pressurized fluid through the valve. A bypass passage is configured to connect with a valve actuation vent port such that when the poppet closes the valve actuation pressure is less than the difference between the pressure up stream of the pulse valve and a pilot within the poppet moves between disparate positions to modify fluid paths within the valve. When the valve is open, a relatively lower pressure is produced by a Venturi effect as the fluid flows through a throat in the poppet seat, to provide a differential pressure used to move the pilot and poppet.
