摘要: This disclosure pertains to a clamping apparatus having a stud capturing portion and a stud facing portion bolted together so as to compressively support a radiation proof sheet material, such as lead sheeting, there-in-between. The interior wall covering material, such as panelling or wall board is secured to the external surface of the stud facing portion. No nails are required to support the radiation-proof sheeting material, thereby minimizing accidental leakage due to harmful radiation passing through openings inadvertently disposed in the radiation-proof sheeting in the conventional nail securing supporting thereof. A pair of radiation-proof tracks capture the free ends of the stud capturing portion and the stud facing portion.

摘要: A brick intended primarily to protect against radioactive radiations comprises two longitudinal parallel faces the surfaces of which may or may not be smooth, a front face and a rear face whose convexity and concavity are oriented vertically, and an upper and lower face whose convexity and concavity are oriented horizontally. Each of the upper and lower faces is provided with a central recess which has the same convexity and concavity as the adjacent end portions of the corresponding face. The faces other than the longitudinal faces are provided with flat edges or shoulders so that the bricks are connected by fitting them vertically one into the other and their opaqueness is assured by their alternative disposition with the flat shoulders and convex surfaces in abutting relationship to each other.

摘要: An elastomeric matrix impregnated with at least 70% by weight of a high atomic number radiopaque substance, and cured with an organic peroxide, to form carbon-carbon links between elastomer molecular chains. The radiopaque elastomeric matrix may be used to create a flexible, lightweight, carbon-carbon linked, multilaminated protection material against ionizing radiation. The multilaminated protec tion material may include a mechanical reinforcement cloth layer to avoid material expansion or rupture; and additional external elastomeric layers for protection against aging, physical, biological and chemical hazards, as well as allowing mechanical memory of the material and easy cleaning, desinfection and sterilization. These layers are directly merged or incorporated into a single, fused sheet with the radiopaque elastomeric matrix, without the use of glues or adhesives, during a cure and pressure application wherein the elastomer molecules create reticulated carbon-carbon links between the internal and external elastomeric layers and through the pores of the reinforcement layer. The multilaminated material allows production of colored, flexible, lightweight, durable radiation protection articles for medical, dental, and industrial uses.

摘要: The Portable Nuclear Radioactive Fallout Protection Shelter & Preservation of Potable Water Storage System is comprised of self-supporting interlocking stackable radiation shielding watertight jugs having the dual purpose of being used to rapidly assemble fallout shelters and to store drinking water. The jugs are made of rigid neoprene, plastics, or similar substances that when filled with water and properly assembled omits radioactive gamma and X-rays. Wooden or metal support beams may be required when ceiling supports are necessary. The jugs may be filled using a common garden hose and be emptied by pouring water out of the water spouts that are also an integral part of the self supporting interlocking mechanisms and be drained by pouring water from the spouts or using a siphon hose or water pump. The system implements the construction of walls, modules, and complete protective shelters inside or outside of existing buildings.
