    摘要: An x-ray detector panel support is disclosed that is formed with radiation absorbing material to reduce the reflection of x-rays off anything behind the scintillator, which may include the geometry of the panel support, the electronics, and the back cover of the x-ray detector. The absorbing material may take the form of a discrete layer secured to or otherwise disposed within the panel support. The radiation absorbing material may also be mixed with the base materials used to fabricate the panel support. As such, when the panel support is formed, it includes radiation absorbing components. The radiation absorbing material may include lead, barium sulfate, tungsten, as well as other materials. The panel support is constructed to inhibit the detection of backscattered x-rays without significantly increasing the size or weigh of the x-ray detector. The panel support is applicable with stationary or fixed as well as portable x-ray detectors.

    摘要: A fitting structure of a plurality of rectangular parallelopipedal blocks comprising concavo-convexities formed on the surfaces of each of the blocks. The concavo-convexities are formed on each surface of the block on the basis of a figure which is in symmetry of rotation per 90.degree. round the center of a regular square or is in symmetry of rotation per 180.degree. round the center of a rectangle, and is complementarily in symmetry of axis with respect to a center of the rectangle line passing through the center and being in parallel with a side of the regular square or rectangle. Predetermined congruence is imparted to the figures on the surfaces depending on various shapes of the blocks. Fitting of the concavo-convexities of the surfaces of the adjacent blocks is always ensured when each block is aligned so that its thickness and its length are in conformity. The surfaces of adjacent blocks can be connected without the necessity of considering the direction of each block.

The system decreases health hazards for workers and increases the safety margin within the environment. The method contemplates utilizing a frame which is formed from a plurality of interlocking segments which are quickly and easily assembled and disassembled. A plurality of radiation attenuation panels are slidably engaged upon the upper portion of the frame and a second plurality of radiation attenuation pads can be engaged to hang from the sides of the frame to substantially enclose a worker therein.

    摘要: A nuclear reactor core comprising fissile material is surrounded by a core former. The core former comprises one or more single-piece annular rings wherein each single-piece annular ring comprises neutron-reflecting material. In some embodiments the core former comprises a stack of two or more such single-piece annular rings. In some embodiments the stack of single-piece annular rings is self-supporting. In some embodiments the stack of single-piece annular rings does not include welds or fasteners securing adjacent single-piece annular rings together. A core basket may contain the nuclear reactor core and the core former, and in some embodiments an annular gap is defined between the core former and the core basket. In some embodiments the core former does not include welds and does not include fasteners.
