摘要: An electrostatic motor includes a cylindrical rotor and a stator. Electrodes are disposed on an inside cylindrical surface of the stator. Electrets and/or electrically conductive electrodes are disposed on the cylindrical rotor and a dielectric fluid fills space between the rotor and the stator to prevent discharge of the electrets. A mask is used to charge portions of an electret cylinder or other curved surface.

摘要: Drive coils in sections of a linear motor track that are normally used to electromagnetically propel movers along the track when such movers are nearby can be used to generate a mid-bus voltage for the section when not being used to propel movers. Such drive coils not being used to propel movers are considered “idle” and available for mid-bus voltage generation. The mid-bus voltage, and a full-bus voltage from which the mid-bus voltage is derived, in turn, can be applied across other drive coils that are near movers with varying polarities and magnitudes to propel movers along the track. Track sensors can be positioned along the track to detect presences or absences of movers with respect to drive coils for determining propulsion of such movers or generation of the mid-bus voltage. Accordingly, power supplies can be used more efficiently by not requiring them to generate mid-bus voltages in addition to full-bus voltages and DC references.

摘要: A capacitive actuator motor according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a capacitive actuator having six actuator units and a motor output cam having a periodic shape portion. Each of the six actuator units includes a buckling displacement expansion mechanism configured to convert an output of a piezoelectric element and urge an output joint in a predetermined output direction and a preload adjustment spring configured to urge an output joint with a certain characteristic in a direction in which the periodic shape portion and the output joint come into contact with each other.

摘要: The invention provides an energy generation and/or conversion system and method wherein an electrical power generator is controlled to periodically alternate between a contact-mode, during which elements of the generator are brought into contact to induce a state of charging, and a non-contact mode, during which plates of the generator are separated from one another and electrical energy is generated through electrostatic induction. Timing and duration of contact and non-contact modes are controlled by a controller, or by user commands, in dependence on a charge state of the elements of the generator: In this way elements are controlled to come into contact only when surface charge has fallen below a certain level, and re-charging is necessary; contact time between the elements may hence be minimised—thereby minimising incurred noise and surface wear—whilst still maintaining a given desired threshold power output.

摘要: A system for harvesting atmospheric ionic energy to generate electricity is provided. The present invention embodies the utilization of the electric equipotential differences in the earth's electrostatic field through providing a generator device extending vertically into the atmosphere perpendicular to ground. The generator device includes electrical collectors adapted to conduct surface charge. A ground circuit coupled to the generator device is adapted to distribute the surface charge to attract oppositely charged atmospheric ions so that the electrostatic energy is converted to a low amperage, high voltage transaction of moving electrons up though the apparatus, reciprocal in direction to the electrostatic field previously mentioned so as to be useable for conventional electrical systems.

摘要: A vertical comb-drive actuator comprising a support base and a movable body is described. The support base comprises first comb electrodes and a first surface wherein the first comb electrodes extend from the first surface. The movable body attached to the support base comprises second comb electrodes and a second surface wherein the second comb electrodes extend from the second surface. The movable body may rotate about a rotation axis and the first comb electrodes are interdigitated with the second comb electrodes correspondingly. The second comb electrodes extend along a first direction, the rotation axis extends along a second direction, and the first comb electrodes extend along a third direction. The distance between the first lateral face of the first comb electrode and the second surface is shorter than the second length defined as the distance between the end surface of the second comb electrode and the second surface.
