    摘要: A damper film bearing assembly for supporting a rotatable shaft of a turbomachine includes a housing having a central bore sized to receive the bearing member, and an annular cavity formed within the housing around the central bore. The annular cavity includes an outer wall that is concentric with the central bore. A bearing member having an annular outer surface and an inner bearing surface is mounted within the cavity and engages the shaft to support the shaft within the housing. A fluid film damper mechanism acts between the annular outer surface and the outer wall of the cavity for damping radial movement of the bearing member within the cavity. A resiliently adjustable dead weight hanging spring support system acts between the housing and the bearing member to support the dead weight of the shaft within a vertically centered position within the central bore so that the fluid film damper means functions to maintain the shaft centered within the bore when vibrations occur during rotation of the shaft.

One or more cylindrical pistons are mounted on the rotatable shaft to rotate therewith within a pressure chamber defined within a stationary cylindrical housing permitting the piston or pistons to be displaced axially therein. Fluctuations in axial thrust forces acting on the displaceable rotatable shaft are counteracted by applying a fluid pressure medium to one or both of the piston ends of the cylindrical piston or pistons in a controlled manner so as to maintain a predetermined clearance range of the grinding space.

The parts of the bearing can be separated by a lifting jack when the vehicle is travelling to reduce vibration and wear. Devices responsive to the pressure supplied to the jack stop the motor driving the rotary part when a first threshold pressure is exceeded, prevent ignition of the vehicle engine until a second threshold pressure is exceeded, and control the pump feeding the jack to maintain a third threshold value which is above the second threshold pressure.

    摘要: A thrust bearing assembly is provided which reduces initial axial loading on a shaft's thrust bearing in order to correspondingly reduce the required torque for rotational start-up. The shaft's bearing runner is forced in a direction away from its associated thrust bearing during initial start-up procedures by a suitable means for imparting a force on the bearing runner in a direction away from the thrust bearing. The force is provided by a piston and cylinder combination, in the preferred embodiment, which provides an axial force in a direction opposing the initial shaft loading force. An anti-friction guide bearing is used to transfer this force from the piston to the shaft and, in turn, to the bearing runner.

    摘要: A resilient compliant hydrodynamic fluid film thrust bearing includes a top bearing sheet of thin metalic foil material, and a lower supporting sheet of the same or slightly heavier gauge material. The top bearing sheet is stamped to produce an annular array of truncated sector-shaped flaps attached to the array along one radially extending edge. The second section is stamped to produce an annular pattern of raised projections formed by bending the material along slits to form radially extending bumps which resiliently support the first section. The two sheets are superimposed and aligned, and are welded together along the edge by which the sector-shaped flaps are attached to the first section. The welded assemblies are then sheared from the superimposed foils and deburred.
