Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support demodulation reference signal (DMRS) multiplexing scheme selection for uplink transmission. A user equipment (UE) may monitor for a parameter from a base station indicating which DMRS scheme to use. In some cases, the base station may transmit a radio resource control (RRC) parameter indicating a first DMRS scheme to the UE. The UE may select the first DMRS scheme based on receiving the RRC parameter from the base station or based on a default DMRS scheme. The UE may transmit a transmission based on the first DMRS scheme.

Abstract: In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive downlink control information (DCI) that includes a timing value indicating a timing of an opportunity, subsequent to reception of the DCI, for transmission or reception of a communication corresponding to the DCI. The UE may determine an uplink opportunity or a downlink opportunity for transmission or reception of the communication based at least in part on the timing of the opportunity. A counter for determining the uplink opportunity may be incremented only for transmission time intervals (TTIs) in which the UE is allowed to transmit the communication in an uplink channel. A counter for determining the downlink opportunity may be incremented only for TTIs in which the UE can expect to receive the communication in a downlink channel. The UE may transmit or receive the communication in the uplink opportunity or the downlink opportunity. Other aspects are disclosed.

Abstract: Techniques are described herein for addressing tone misalignment between signals of a first radio access technology (RAT) and signals of a second RAT in a combined signal. In some wireless communications systems, the tones of uplink (UL) signals may be shifted up or down based on the configuration of the particular RAT. If UL signals of the first RAT are not shifted in frequency and UL signals of the second RAT are shifted in frequency, processing the combined signal may include additional processing to account for the mismatch.

Abstract: Various aspects described herein relate to techniques for timing control with filtering in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM)-based wireless communications systems. In an aspect, the method includes determining whether time-domain filtering or frequency-domain filtering is used for a transmission signal waveform, and identifying a time delay based on a determination that the time-domain filtering is used for the transmission signal waveform. The method further includes applying a timing correction based on the identified time delay. The techniques described herein may apply to different communications technologies, including 5th Generation (5G) New Radio (NR) communications technology.

Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to communicating a sequence-based signal in a frequency spectrum are provided. A first wireless communication device obtains a configuration for communicating a sequence-based signal in the frequency spectrum. The configuration indicates resources in a frequency spectrum and a frequency distribution mode of the resources. The first wireless communication device communicates the sequence-based signal with a second wireless communication device in the frequency spectrum based on the configuration. The sequence-based signal includes at least one of a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) signal or a physical random access channel (PRACH) signal. The frequency distribution mode indicates at least one of a frequency interlaced structure, a frequency comb structure, or a frequency mini-interlaced structure.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify a capability of the UE to support concurrent transmissions on a maximum number of channels, and may report the capability to a base station. The UE may identify that the UE 115 is scheduled to concurrently transmit on a scheduled number of channels. In some cases, the scheduled number of channels may exceed the maximum number of channels supported for concurrent transmissions by the UE. In some cases, the UE may then transmit one or more concurrent transmissions to the base station, the one or more concurrent transmissions being less than or equal to the maximum number of channels supported for concurrent transmission by the UE.

Abstract: Some techniques and apparatuses described herein may assign resource elements of a particular resource block for transmission by two or more different antennas in a fashion such that the symbols are interleaved in frequency and/or in time, which improves frequency diversity of the two or more different antennas, thereby improving uplink performance of the UE. In some aspects, when the two or more resource blocks are contiguous, then each antenna may produce an interleaved frequency division multiple access (IFDMA) waveform, which may maintain peak to average power ratio (PAPR) properties of a single channel FDMA transmission. Thus, some techniques and apparatuses described herein may achieve transmit diversity and/or frequency diversity of a stream of symbols on two or more antennas without significantly increasing the PAPR of the stream of symbols.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitting device may identify a set of allocated resource blocks and a number of the allocated resource blocks. The transmitting device may determine a bit sequence length corresponding to the number of allocated resource blocks. The transmitting device may generate a reference signal based on a bit sequence having the bit sequence length and transmit the reference signal within the allocated resource blocks. The transmitting device may modulate the bit sequence using a π/2 binary phase shift keying modulation scheme. The transmitting device may modulate a data bit sequence using the same modulation scheme to generate a modulated data bit sequence, where a peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of tones transporting the modulated data bit sequence satisfies a PAPR threshold and a PAPR of tones transporting the reference signal also satisfies the PAPR threshold.
