The numerical controller successively reads and analyzes blocks of the machining program in advance, stores the analyzed blocks into a buffer, and then executes the stored blocks, and comprises means for determining whether or not a read block contains a look-ahead stop code to suspend analysis of the block, means for suspending the analysis of the block when the look-ahead stop code is determined, means for determining whether or not execution of a block immediately preceding the suspended block is completed, and resuming means for resuming the analysis of the suspended block when the execution of the block immediately preceding the suspended block is completed.

A method of acquiring status information of I/O units connected to a numerical controller capable of transmitting status information indicative of particulars of an abnormality occurred in any of the I/O units with less influence on an amount of transmittable information of input/output data. When an abnormality has occurred in the I/O unit, the I/O unit transmits an output signal with a status abnormality notifying bit set to a programmable controller (PC) in the numerical controller. The PC stores information indicative of I/O units in which the status abnormality has occurred as status-abnormality acquiring I/O unit information, in a storage device of the PC. The PC requests the status information to the I/O unit in which the abnormality has occurred according to the status-abnormality acquiring I/O unit information. In response to the request, the I/O unit transmits the status information to the PC.

A controller for an injection molding machine capable of reducing an extension of a cycle time in a screw retreat process after the end of measurement, obtaining a more accurate and uniform measured resin amount, and determining measurement conditions in a short period of time. After the measurement is finished, the screw is stopped from rotating and retreated at a first speed V1. The screw is reversely rotated at a predetermined speed Rv in a set zone. As this is done, the screw is retreated at a second speed V2 lower than the first speed V1. After the reverse rotation zone is terminated, the screw is stopped from rotating and retreated at a third speed V3 to a set retreat stop position. By doing this, the cycle time can be made shorter than in the case where the retreat and reverse rotation of the screw are performed separately. Since the retreating speed of the screw is low while the screw is being reversely rotated, a sudden pressure change can be suppressed, so that precise measurement can be made. Since conditions for the reverse rotation and retreat of the screw can be regulated independently, they can be adjusted to optimum conditions in a short period of time.

An automatic tool changing method and an automatic tool changing device for a machine tool with a numerical controller capable of reducing the occurrence of impact due to tool exchange with a simple structure. A turret that rotates about a pivot shaft is provided on an arm and holds multiple tools. A swing cam CS that cooperates with a swing roller provided on the turret is provided on a spindle head. As the spindle head descends the turret rotates due to the action of the swing roller and the cam CS and exchanges tools. In order to lessen the impact that occurs at this time, the velocity of the spindle head is controlled. The ideal swing velocity pattern for the turret is obtained, and from this swing velocity pattern the swing position of the turret at each moment is obtained. From the swing roller and cam CS positions at this position the position of the spindle head 34 is obtained. From the acquired spindle head position the spindle head velocity pattern is obtained, and the spindle head is controlled using this velocity pattern. As a result, an ideal swing pattern can be achieved, and therefore no impact arises.

The phase difference between this PRE_ITP signal and the ITP signal unique to the slave unit is loaded into a period modification counter.
