Abstract: A matching transformation is determined for matching a patient image set of images of an anatomical body structure of a patient with an atlas image set of images of a general anatomical structure including anatomical atlas elements. Atlas spatial information containing spatial information on the general anatomical structure, and element representation information are obtained. The element representation information describes representation data sets which contain information on representations of the plurality of atlas elements in the atlas images to be determined are obtained, and also describes a determination rule for determining respective representation data sets for respective atlas elements in accordance with different respective parameter sets. Patient data is acquired by acquiring the patient image set and the parameter sets which are respectively associated with the images of the patient image set. The matching transformation is determined by matching images associated with the same parameter set to each other.

Abstract: A positioning device for a medical field generator includes a base member, an adaptor connected with the base member and configured to support a field generator, and a fixing member allowing the positioning device to be fixed to an associated operating table. The base member includes at least one contacting section and is configured to contact an upper surface of an operating table. The adaptor is configured to prevent the field generator from being positioned at less than a predetermined distance from the operating table. A method positions a medical field generator. The field generator is attached with the positioning device. A base member of the positioning device, with the field generator attached to it, is positioned on the upper surface of the operating table and beneath a part of a head of a patient lying on the operating table. The positioning device is fixedly attached with the operating table.

Abstract: A medical data processing method and system determines the position of an artifact in patient image data describing a set of tomographic slice images of an anatomical structure of a patient. The images are described by color Values. Color value difference data describing differences in color values for image elements in adjacent slice images is determined. At least one of positive or negative difference data, describing a subset of the differences and consisting of differences having a positive or negative value are determined. Smoothed difference data describing a smoothing of the differences contained in the positive or negative difference data are determined and, based on the positive or negative difference data and the smoothed difference data, artifact position data is determined describing the position of an artifact in the patient image data.

Abstract: The presently described method is directed to determining a way of positioning a patient before execution of a medical procedure involving irradiating the patient with ionizing treatment radiation based on comparing medical images of the patient with a pre-acquired medical image. The planning computed tomography is searched for an image of the reference stricture in order to determine the position of the patient relative to a patient support device. A retroreflective marker device, having a known and advantageously fixed position relative to the base plate, is detected by a navigation system operatively coupled to a motor of the support device. Based on the detected position of the marker device, the motor of the support device is activated to drive the patient into a desired position relative to beam direction along which the treatment radiation is to be issued towards the patient to execute the medical procedure.
