Abstract:
An inductive power system including an inductive power transmitter coupled to a non-conductive medium, and a power cord that electrically couples the transmitter to an AC power source. The inductive power transmitter is configured to emit an electromagnetic field based on the received AC power. There is an inductive power receiver coupled to the non-conductive medium and separated from the transmitter, wherein the receiver is configured to receive the electromagnetic field after it has passed through the non-conductive medium and in response develop power. A power cord electrically couples the developed power to a power sink.
Abstract:
Performance of a legacy application may be characterized for subsequent adjustment of operating parameters when running the legacy application on a new system. Performance information for the legacy application is recorded or derived while running the legacy application on the legacy system. One or more performance characteristics for the legacy application running on the legacy system are determined by analyzing the performance information, the one or more performance characteristics including one or more key performance metrics and other performance information. The one or more key performance metrics must be met when the legacy application is run on the new system. The other performance information is useful for later adjustment of operating parameters of the new system when running the legacy application on the new system.
Abstract:
To address problems that arise due to differences in bus behavior when running a legacy application on a new device the new device may throttle bus performance in a way that emulates the bus behavior of a legacy device when executing the legacy application.
Abstract:
Casings and housings for use in high speed airflow (for example for mounting on a high speed vehicle) are described. In one embodiment, a housing for imaging equipment is described. The housing has a tapering form with symmetrical angular truncations such that it tapers in the form of a wedge with two substantially planar regions. At least one substantially planar region includes an aperture formed of optically transparent material.

Abstract:
Architecture that uses content from off-page data sources such as feeds (e.g., yellow pages, coupons, social networks, commerce, etc.) to present additional, relevant information in association with search results. The additional and relevant information is directly relevant to the implicit task the user is trying to accomplish. The architecture includes online and offline mechanisms that identify an entity represented on a web page and look-up information related to that entity in disparate data sources. Relevance heuristics are employed to determine which of the available entity data to show in the caption given the user query, the web page, and the underlying user task (other known information about the user such as geographic location).
Abstract:
A method for creating a pseudo-world that includes identifying a first pseudo-world file system, wherein the first pseudo-world file system includes a plurality of folders and a plurality of attribute files in a file system hierarchy, wherein the file system hierarchy defines a plurality of parent child relationships between the plurality of folders and the plurality of attribute files, and processing each of the plurality of folders according to the file system hierarchy. Processing a folder of the plurality of folders includes identifying at least one child attribute file of the plurality of attribute files comprised in the folder, wherein the folder and the at least one child attribute file are in a parent child relationship of the plurality of parent child relationships based on the at least one child attribute file comprised in the folder, identifying a parent cell in the pseudo-world, wherein the parent cell is defined by a parent attribute file corresponding to the folder, and generating, in the pseudo-world, a child cell within the parent cell for each of the at least one child attribute files based on the parent child relationship. The method may further include displaying the pseudo-world.
Abstract:
The present invention includes a nozzle insert for use in a drying machine of the type used in paper web drying. The nozzle insert of the present invention includes at least one intake having a central portion, wherein a pair of center vanes is disposed for directing airflow. The central portion is bounded by at least one turning vane adapted for directing airflow in a lateral direction. For each turning vane, there is at least one straightening vane adapted for curtailing swirling of the airflow. The vanes are oriented at optimal angles for directing the flow of the nozzle in a lateral direction, while permitting some air to penetrate the central portion through a series of ports. The intakes are bounded by a series of insulated bulkheads, which serve to direct airflow and contain heat-loss through thermal emission.
Abstract:
In an embodiment, a method is provided for tracking a state of a document that is accessible over a computer network. In this method, requests to modify the document are received by way of the computer network. A size of a set of these requests are identified to exceed a threshold size and an identifier that identifies this set of requests is generated. The identifier is then transmitted in a response to the requests by way of the computer network.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed towards systems and methods for generating and displaying the difference between a primary result set and a secondary result set. According to the present invention, a method for displaying the difference between a primary result set and a secondary result set for a query comprises generating a primary result set and a secondary result set, the primary result set and secondary result set generated according to one or more respective disparate search algorithms. A difference result set is determined according to a difference between items in the primary result set and second result set, which is displayed to a user.
