Abstract: The present invention relates to a styrene-based resin having a weight average molecular weight Mw′ as determined by the GPC-MALS method of 1,000,000 or more and 5,000,000 or less, a degree of long-chain branching of 0.2 or more per 1,000 styrene units, and a tetrahydrofuran-insoluble matter of 0.1% by weight or less (including 0), the styrene-based resin being free from a component derived from a polyfunctional monomer in a molecular chain thereof. In a method for producing this styrene-based resin, in an impregnation step of adding a polymerization initiator and a styrene monomer in an aqueous medium, thereby impregnating the polymerization initiator and the styrene monomer in the seed particle at a temperature at which polymerization of the styrene monomer does not substantially proceed, the amount of the styrene monomer is 20 to 200 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the seed particle; and in an additional impregnation polymerization step of graft polymerizing the styrene monomer on the styrene-based resin, the addition amount of the styrene monomer is 50 to 700 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the seed particle, and the content of the styrene monomer in the seed particle is held at 10% by weight or less.

Abstract: Provided is a core material of a seat cushion for a vehicle. The core material includes: a thermoplastic resin expanded beads molded article 2 that has a substantially rectangular shape in a top view, the rectangular shape having a long side and a short side; and an annular reinforcing member 3 that is insert-molded in the peripheral edge part of the expanded beads molded article. A missing part 4 is formed in the expanded beads molded article, the missing part passing through in the thickness direction. A slit 7 is formed in at least one corner of the lightening part, the slit being oriented outward from the expanded beads molded article from the vicinity of the corner part.

Expanded thermoplastic polyurethane beads containing a colorant, wherein when an apparent density of the expanded beads is 80 to 300 kg/m3, an average cell diameter of the expanded beads is 100 to 400 μm, and an average surface cell wall thickness of the expanded beads is 15 μm or more, a molded article resulting from in-mold molding of the expanded beads is suppressed in color unevenness and has high uniformity of color.

Abstract: A method for producing a skin-covered foamed molded article including blow-molding a parison in a mold cavity to form a skin consisting of a hollow molded body, in which the parison is in a softened state by extruding a molten thermoplastic resin, filling expanded beads in the hollow molded body, and heating and fusion bonding the beads by supplying steam via a steam supply pipe inserted into the hollow molded body. The parison is in contact with a protruding portion, formed by protrusion from an inner surface of the mold cavity to an inside of the cavity, forming a recessed portion having a shape corresponding to the protruding portion in the inward direction of the hollow molded body. A steam hole is formed in the recessed portion, a steam supply pipe is inserted into the body, and the expanded beads are heated and fusion bonded by supplying steam.

Abstract: A method for producing a seat core material that has a foamed molded substrate and a frame member embedded in a periphery thereof, which includes, as step (a), heating thermoplastic resin expanded beads in a mold cavity, in which the frame member has been disposed, to fusion-bond the expanded beads to each other and to obtain the foamed molded substrate with the frame member being embedded in the periphery thereof; and, as step (b), simultaneously with step (a) or after step (a), forming a void cavity S, S′ in the foamed molded substrate at a position along and adjacent to the frame member. The void cavity S, S′ has a size and shape that allows a relative displacement between the frame member and the foamed molded substrate when the foamed molded substrate shrinks after step (b).

Abstract: Provided is a method for producing a polyethylene-based resin extruded foam sheet by extruding and foaming a foamable molten resin composition formed by kneading a mixture containing a low-density polyethylene, a physical blowing agent, and an antistatic agent, wherein the foam sheet has a thickness in a range of from 0.05 to 0.5 mm, and the antistatic agent is a polymeric antistatic agent having a melting point whose different from the melting point of the low-density polyethylene is in a range of from −10 to +10° C., and having a melt flow rate of 10 g/10 min or more. This method enables a novel polyethylene-based resin extruded foam sheet to be obtained that is of high quality such that formation of a small hole or a through-hole has been reduced or eliminated, and has both excellent strength and a shock-absorbing property despite a very small thickness even in medium- or long-term continuous production, and besides, exhibits a sufficient antistatic property, thus suitable as a glass plate interleaf sheet.
