Abstract:
A discrete multitone stacked-carrier spread spectrum communication method is based on frequency domain spreading including multiplication of a baseband signal by a set of superimposed, or stacked, complex sinusoid carrier waves. In a preferred embodiment, the spreading involves energizing the bins of a large Fast Fourier transform (FFT). This provides a considerable savings in computational complexity for moderate output FFT sizes. Point-to-multipoint and multipoint-to-multipoint (nodeless) network topologies are possible. A code-nulling method is included for interference cancellation and enhanced signal separation by exploiting the spectral diversity of the various sources. The basic method may be extended to include multielement antenna array nulling methods for interference cancellation and enhanced signal separation using spatial separation. Such methods permit directive and retrodirective transmission systems that adapt or can be adapted to the radio environment. Such systems are compatible with bandwidth-on-demand and higher-order modulation formats and use advanced adaptation algorithms. In a specific embodiment the spectral and spatial components of the adaptive weights are calculated in a unified operation based on the mathematical analogy between the spectral and spatial descriptions of the airlink.

Abstract:
An integrated circuit plasma processing system, apparatus and method for reclaiming material, such as a plasma precursor and potentially useful components among their byproducts, from plasma-enhanced exhaust of a plasma process chamber for subsequent reuse in the chamber. The apparatus provides a recycle feedback loop for a plasma process chamber that provides the high purity materials necessary for microelectronic applications. Since the apparatus is in-situ, no byproducts that are not already present are possible. Accordingly, the apparatus guarantees purity of the recycled material. In addition to cost savings, the invention provides an environmentally friendly plasma process chamber and apparatus with very little production of waste.
Abstract:
A pressure sleeve assembly and a method of its use in a fluid injection system are disclosed. The pressure sleeve assembly includes a longitudinal base member, an endplate associated with the longitudinal base member, a fixed or freely removable door, a cylinder and a pivotal arm coupling the cylinder to the longitudinal base member. The pressure sleeve assembly includes properties that increase the ease of use and maintenance of the assembly so as to reduce the effort required by the user and increase the biosafety aspect of the assembly. In addition, the pressure sleeve assembly includes properties that reduce the amount of effort required by the physician prior to and during use of the system as well as properties that increase its range of applications.
Abstract:
A minimally invasive device for performing direct cardiac massage including an inflatable bladder mounted on a rigid inflation tube. The rigid inflation tube is used to push the bladder into the sternocostal space through an incision in the upper abdomen just below the xiphoid process. After insertion into the sternocostal space, the bladder is repeatedly inflated and deflated to massage the heart and provide blood flow.
Abstract:
The present invention provides for a method of updatig an internet search engine database with the results of a user's selection of specific web page listings from the general web page listing provided to the user as a result of his initial keyword search entry. By updating the database with the selections of many different users, the database can be updated to prioritize those web listings that have been selected the most with respect to a given keyword, and thereby presenting first the most popular web page listings in a subsequent search using the same keyword search entry.
Abstract:
Each remote station in a wireless network cell that uses a collision oriented multiple access scheme, counts the number of retries attempted to gain access to the base station for a particular message. The accumulated value of the number of retries is then inserted in a retry count field of the access request message. After one or more retries, the base station successfully receives the access request message. The base station runs a common access channel allocation manager program that adaptively provides additional channels to the remote station, depending on the number of retries the remote station required to successfully transmit the access request message. In this manner, the base station has accurate information about the reduced performance that the remote stations suffer during an interval of high usage, to enable the base station to adaptively provide additional channels to the remote stations.
Abstract:
A toy elastic band projectile-firing gun comprises an elongated barrel and a handle connected to the rear portion of the barrel. A wire trigger element is carried pivotally on the outer face of the handle having one extremity extending forwardly of the handle and the other extremity shaped and dimensioned to slide within a vertical slot in the rear end of the barrel. Depression of the one extremity of the trigger element causes an upward movement of the other extremity of the trigger element within the vertical slot to thereby eject the elastic band from the rear end of the barrel.
Abstract:
AN ELECTRODE SYSTEM IS ATTACHED RELATIVE TO A CAPILLARY TUBE SO THAT AN ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT IS COMPLETED WHEN THE MENISCUS IN THE CAPILLARY TUBVE HOLDING THE SAMPLE FLATTENS OUT AS PRESSURE IS APPLIED BY A MOTOR DRIVEN MICROMETER THROUGH A PRESSURE TRANSDUCER. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE CONDUCTIVE PROPERTIES OF THE SOLUTION CLOSE A CONDUCTIVITY CIRCUIT WHICH APPLIES A VOLTAGE TO A RECORDER THUS INDICATING THE END POINT. THE PRESSURE NOTED AT THIS POINT IS USED IN THE CALCULATION OF THE SURFACE TENSION OF THE LIQUID SAMPLE.
