Abstract:
Apparatus and method in which the temperature of the barrel inner surface and the temperature of the screw conveyor outer surface of a plasticating extruder are varied, alternately, in repeated steps, independent of one another along at least a portion of the solids conveying zone of the extruder, while a production effectiveness parameter simultaneously is monitored, until the monitored production effectiveness parameter is optimized and the production effectiveness of the extruder is at a desired maximum.
Abstract:
A chair including a contoured seat supported within a boxlike base. The seat includes a peripheral tubular frame and flexible material covering the frame. The base includes a pair of spaced, upright side members having grooves formed in the counterfacing surfaces thereof to match the contour of the seat in edge profile. A pair of lateral spacer members are connected between the side members so the edges of the seat are captured in the grooves. The seat is thus suspended in the base to provide a comfortable, unobstructed sitting area.
Abstract:
A method and system for reforming hydrocarbon gas, which includes stripping from the hydrocarbon gas at least most of gaseous impurities of a type and/or quantity which would normally interfere with efficient catalytic reforming in order to provide stripped hydrocarbon gas including carbon dioxide, optionally compressing the stripped hydrocarbon gas to provide compressed stripped hydrocarbon gas, and reacting the stripped hydrocarbon gas in a solar radiation receiving reactor having a catalyst that is heated by concentrated solar radiation impinging thereon, thereby providing an output gas mixture comprising hydrogen gas and carbon monoxide. The invention also includes a method and system for reforming hydrocarbons in a solar radiation receiver reactor, and such a system that also includes a certification system for certifying the amount and composition of the output gas mixture.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a method and system for preventing intrusion of viscous poured concrete into electrical or telecom boxes using resilient members having a top surface that fills the surface opening of the box it is inserted into where the spring back of the resilient member insures a proper seal around the surface opening. An example method for preventing intrusion of poured concrete into a box comprises selecting a suitable member for insertion into the box, compressing the member, inserting it into the box, and pouring concrete around the box. The resilient member may subsequently be removed and reused in another box. In another example method, a supply of resilient members of different shapes and sizes is provided for insertion into differently sized boxes.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a device for separating solid materials on the basis of a mutual difference in density, wherein the materials to be separated are brought into contact with a magnetic fluid across which fluid a density gradient is generated by means of a magnetic field such that fractions of solid materials of different densities are obtained, said device being provided with a magnet, an inflow chamber, a separation chamber, and means for discharging fractions of solid materials of different densities in separation, wherein the magnetic fluid flows from the inflow chamber to the separation chamber, wherein the magnet is arranged above the separation chamber, and wherein at least one duct for the supply of the solid materials to be separated is located below the inflow chamber and the separation chamber and encloses an angle with the inflow chamber and the separation chamber.
