Abstract:
A process for the purification of optically active lysine monohydrochloride, containing racemic lysine monohydrochloride as an optical impurity, is disclosed. In this process the solid salt is treated with water to effect an at least partial dissolution or extraction of the optical antipod of the lysine monohydrochloride which is present in the original salt. The aqueous solution thus formed is separated from the solid phase before an equilibrium state is reached, the solid phase thus obtained being of lower optical purity than the original salt.
Abstract:
PREPARATION OF HYDROXY-CAPRONITRILE BY REACTION IN THE VAPOUR PHASE OF E-CAPROLACTONE WITH AMMONIA, THE REACTION TEMPERATURE BEING MAINTAINED AT 270-325*C. AND ZINC OXIDE BEING USED AS A CATALYST.
Abstract:
APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING MELAMINE FROM UREA WHICH INCLUDES IN COMBINATION A REACTOR AND SEPARATING DEVICES IN COMMUNICATION THEREWITH FOR REMOVING MELAMINE FROM THE REACTION PRODUCT AND RECOVERING NH3FROM THE ESSENTIALLY MELAMINE-FREE REACTION PRODUCT. THE RECOVERED NH3 IS RECYCLED TO THE REACTOR TO FLUIDIZE THE CATALYST BED THEREIN AND TO ATOMIZE THE UREA FED THERETO FOR CONVERSION INTO MELAMINE. VENTING CONDUIT MEANS AND SUPPLEMENTAL AMMONIA CONDUIT MEANS ARE ALSO PROVIDED. MEANS FOR SENSING THE PRESSURE IN THE REACTOR AND SEPARATING DEVICES AND FOR SENSING THE AMOUNT OF AMMONIA INTRODUCED INTO THE REACTOR TO FLUIDIZE THE CATALYST BED ARE EMPLOYED AND IN RESPONSE TO THE SENSED PRESSURE AND QUANTITY VALUES. THE PRESSURE AND AMOUNT OF AMMONIA UTILIZED ARE CONTROLLED TO MAINTAIN THE REACTOR IN OPERATIONAL CONDITION.
Abstract:
THE USE OF CARBOXYLIC ESTERS OF KETOXIMES, IN WHICH AN ACYL RADICAL HAS BEEN SUBSTITUTED IN THE MOLECULE FOR ONE OF THE HYDROCARBON RADICALS OF THE KETOXIME, AS PROMOTERS, USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH CATALYSTS, IN THE IONIC POLYMERIZATION OF LACTAME, IS DISCLOSED. THE USE OF SUCH PROMOTERS PERMITS RAPID POLYMERIZATION WITH HIGH YIELDS OF AMIDE POLYMERS, WHICH ARE USEFUL IN THE PRODUCTION OF MOLDED PRODUCTS.

1,169,316. Spray producers. STAMICARBON N.V. 3 April, 1968 [8 April, 1967], No. 16063/68. Heading B2F. Apparatus for delivering a liquid or gaseous medium to a plurality of discharge points 3 in a feed line 2, comprises a feed line having said discharge points arranged at intervals along said feed line 2, a first supply line 6 for the medium connected to one end 4 of said feed line, a second supply line 6 1 for the medium connected to the other end 4 1 of said feed line, a valve (5, 5 1 ) in each of said first and second supply lines which valves are so interconnected 7 that when the flow of medium is at a maximum in the first supply line, the flow of medium in the second supply line is at a minimum and vice-versa, whereby on operation of the valves during continuous flow of the medium a zone of no or minimum flow velocity travels in said feed line from one end thereof to the other. The valves may be coupled mechanically, pneumatically, magnetically or electrically, and more than one feed line and more than two valved supply lines may be employed. The apparatus may be used to spray molten urea in the manufacture of melamine.
